Where's the Linux build?
I saw that the game supported Windows and Mac, while lacking the otherwise-available Linux version. Will that be fixed soon-ish?

While you wouldn't get achievements or Steam-specific features (overlay, cloud saving), the Aleph One project (which this is based on) has had Linux support for a while if you're really itching to play. https://alephone.lhowon.org/ Hope it helps!

For now the Steam Windows version should work with Proton 9.0 / experimental for Linux users.

Might be able to get it supported via the Luxtopeda fork of Proton

For now, I've added Linux support via luxtorpeda, so you can play the native version that way.
Running it in Proton is not the same as a Linux build.

Luxtorpeda runs native games, not using the windows version or proton. But official support would be great

Can confirm - it works via Luxtorpeda. Not sure about achievements. But having Steam Support in the Linux Build would be nice.

Native Linux support is a pain in the ass and waste of time. Going with proton is just way better for the developer.

People might complain about laziness, but reality is that native support just isn't worth the effort when majority of the income comes from Windows and Proton can achieve results that are perfectly adequate for most games.

That's not relevant to this game as Aleph One has a native Linux port

It is interesting they didn't release on Steam with a Linux build considering Aleph One does have one.
I'll attempt Proton for now, but if you want to run native go direct to the project.
Runs on Steam Deck perfectly OOTB.

You are correct of course, but if it works well does it really matter?

The performance should be the same. Especially if one runs it on a potato

If that's the case, that's definitely odd. Especially considering that I view this release as being primarily beneficial for Steam Deck users (a device that uses its own Linux distro).

Games work all the time and then an update is released that breaks compatibility with Proton. Happens over and over again, be it smaller games or big AAA games.

A native, properly maintained Steam Linux Runtime port, just is more on the safe side and definitively more worthwhile than wasting time with a Mac port.
