There's not really a way to just drop something without using another container (or player). But there's no reason to do that either. If you're back at the shelter, put everything you dont want to carry into storage. Once you get a recycler built, everything becomes useful. Especially huge sledge hammers.
Not at all if you think about it. The only reason you need to drop things in this game is to make room to pick up something else. There is no penalties for carrying alot other than not being able to carry something else. Which means you're already on a screen you can do that at.
The only place you ever want to just dump something when you arent trying to make room for something else is your shelter storage. Because items dumped there you can recycle (once you build the upgrade)
