Unlocking data items
At first I found the system quite fun, but as I gather more and more data items it's slowly turning into Scrabble's evil brother. Are there any plans on making this system more intuitive and less frustrating? As it stands now I find myself doing word searches in scrabble apps just to try to figure out what a word can be. It seems to me that many people will risk missing quite a bit of the story/lore when it's hidden behind this system.

Guess I finally proved to myself that my vocabulary wasn't as extensive as I thought =P

I got to ask, when can I unlock data items? Do I have to wait for an event or can I just use dougs program and the data things i find while looting somehow?

The data items are meant to get harder as you unlock more of them. You'll be an anagram master by the time you've discovered all the backstory. :)

You have to wait for Doug to wake up and then he unlocks the data system.

Yeah I had Doug wake up, but then how do I use the data system? I didn't notice anything in his dialogue and I didn't see any way to click the computers.

:D computer desk he is standing in front of works it's first desk if i recall right.

He comes to tell you about it after a day or two, then you can open the computer and see what you have found.

As for it getting harder over time, that's fair enough. But there's a difference between hard and simply frustrating. And for non-native english speakers it will probably be even more so

the ones with just numbers and no clues are impossible

I thoroughly enjoy this system. I love puzzles of this nature, and I'm pretty pleased they put something like this into a game that is mostly killing and looting. Waiting for the numbers to pop up now so I can beat my skull off the desk working them out. They are difficult, and I can't imagine how tough they are for people who don't speak English as a native language, but I don't want to see them dumb it down or replace it with something else.

I am admiting am using the apps scrabble solver.. but more often then not when I am typing in the letters into the scrabble solver. I simply know the word before I even hit enter to find the word.

But truth is some words I would never have guessed in a million year :P cause of the way the letter composition is lay out.

Its okay, not much different than boogle....I would have much preffered something more akin to the encryption breaking system in sid meiers Covert Action. But since so far its simply a way to give us the "world story",unlike in covert action where it was critically important to break the codes,i cant be too disappointed.

...perhaps for deadstate 2 ?

There's just number ones? Oh deer I haven't found any of them yet :O
Got enough so far that I need to actually scroll up and down through the list though, haven't had any problems so far barring *one* that I wasn't entirely sure was even an actual word and thus was just a string of letters I was guessing.

For the most part they are doable and fairly interesting, my only concern and complaint is that they are literally just fluff and don't mean anything or provide meaningful info/worldmap locations etc.
I found one for example that pretty much just read that there is a group of us survivors at the school with food, supplies, and women - obviously implying that I was in danger and a target - yet as far as I'm aware I couldn't act on this info or talk to some of the 'sub-leaders' / veterans like Vic/Bud/Paul in beefing up security or tracking them down or whatever, nothing has happened as of yet either.

Would be pretty neat if some of these were records and accounts of other survivors and communities improvising equipment and documenting their survival experiences and tips in the form of new Shelter upgrades/Science/Workshop blueprints and items becoming available to us after decrypting these.

Think of the letters the numbers most closely resemble... 1= i 3=e 4=a 5=s 6=g 7= L?(worked for me when i counted it as L at least but not 100% sure 8=B 0=O

the only one i thought was truly ridiculous was the one that was x_ _ _ _ _ one which ended up being xenophone (had to cheat online for that one)

Has anyone managed to figure out the last 5 Encrypted
Messages?

146 Encrypted Message #1 Got this off a courier. No idea what it means:
J4SFD0S3!UJ3F3WT70W3Z0V!

147 Encrypted Message #2 Another encrypted message -- a hint at what's to come?

148 Encrypted Message #3 Any luck breaking this code? This has to mean something.
UJ3DS0XTN1HJUC3P3YU

149 Encrypted Message #4 I can't make sense of the rest, but pretty sure the numbers represent letters.

150 Encrypted Message #5 This is the last one I could find and I almost took a bullet getting my hands on it. I think I've been overthinking this - it might be easier than it looks.
