community manager or survival, looting zombie game.
Heard some different things and didn't want to spoil with youtube too much, but I'm curious if this game is focused more on running a community of people, dealing with their ♥♥♥♥, or does it go more towards the project zomboid style, one man against the horde, looting what he can, surviving how he can?

the turn based combat doesn't bother me, unless we're talking FF tactics slow, then it would bother me.

The latter is not applicable. The former is only 1/2 right.

Sure there is community management, but plenty of resource scavenging WITH a team.

Think of a Walking Dead-type RPG.
Basically you're in charge of a group of a survivors, the zombie apocalypse has just happened and you'll have to make decisions that affect you and your groups well-being.

You'll have to go out into the world and scavenge for supplies, fight other hostile groups and of course zombies, its advised that you don't always try and pick a fight or there's a good chance you will die.

It is a very good zombie RPG but DO NOT buy it unless you're very interested in Dead State or you'll just look like another one of the whingers that are becoming so commonplace on here.

It's much closer to the origional Jagged Alliance, or the origional Fallout. Real-time walking around, talking to people, looting, and inventory sorting. Then an enemy sees you (or you voluntarily trigger combat mode), and it becomes turn based. Movement/attacks cost action points, you move each of your team in sequence, enemy then does the same.

Of course, still extremely early in development, this may change.

Ah, so this is early in development, I missed the early access bit. Ok, so fallout-esl combat , I'm cool with that. Is there customization in my "group"? Say, if I have the patience, am I allowed to just go it alone, or with just a group of 2 or 3 of us, or am I forced (at this point in dev) to "babysit" (not intended as derogatory) a preset group of 6 - 10 people.

Also, is exploration, looting and building a part of the game in a big way? I love having to find supplies, build a base, etc.

Also to the "DO NOT BUY IF YOU'RE GOING TO WHINE" guy, I'm just trying to figure out if this game is the type of game for me before I buy. Not intending on whining.

Yep, you get a board inside your shelter where you assign jobs to the people in your group, you can go at it alone or with a few people, its entirely up to you.

Yep, its basically what the game is about.

Yeah, I'm aware but what most people don't realize is that THIS is just a SHORT DEMO for Dead State and unless you're a BIG FAN or have been waiting for a LONG TIME, DO NOT BUY IT.

It's neither. It's not early access and it can hardly be said to be early development when they've been working on it for 3 years and hope to release the final build in 3-5 months.

Games practically done, they just want you to pay £19 to preorder it.

I'm confused, is this a short demo or a fully functioning game? How limited is the gameplay currently? am I limited to 5 hours or something?

All together, once you've explored everything etc you'd be looking at 8-12 hours or so.
