Games like Dead State

I loved this game - was something I could play in the background while processes ran during the day.

What other games like Dead State (post-apoc and/or turn based RPG) are out there?

The music/atmospherics were also stellar.

Wasteland 2 would be the obvious choice. Not sure about many other post-apoc RPGs.

For fantasy settings, there's plenty. Temple of Elemental Evil is cool. Spiderweb Software games, if you don't mind the dated visuals, Avernum 1, Geneforge, etc. are good. No music there, though. Can't really think right now. I haven't played many isometric turn-based RPGs lately.

The next game by the company could be something to look at for this, too. Age of Decadence.

Old Fallouts, Underail maybe. At a stretch Zafehouse Diaries 2. Even bigger stretch Dead Age. Wasteland 1 is geting a remake and had my eye of a EA game called ATOM.

Shadowrun, Dragonfall and Hong Kong I kind of like those TB/rgs. Colorful looking games, lots of reading, very dark criminal underworld.

Try Survivalist. Little bit more "hands on" than DS but similar idea, post-apoc, zombies etc.

The lock on combat sucks, but yeah it has other things going for it.

Just a correction that Age of Decadence was made by Iron Tower Studios while Dead State was made by Double Bear. It is a common mistake people make since Iron Tower let Dead State use their forums, plus Dead State used the Age of Decadence engine as a base to make the game and used a few of their programmers. However they are completely seperate companies. This is the current website for Double Bear.

I already have Gorky 17 but I'm wondering if it still holds up today? I really tried to get into Septerra Core recently and couldn't bear the tedious combat unfortunately.

I vote Underrail even though it is a single character and not party based. And its getting a pretty expansion this fall/winter. It gives you that future cyberpunk post Apocalypse vibe plus a really detailed character creation/leveling feature plus excellent crafting if you decide on crafting. So many different ways to play based upon characters. Excellent game.

Dungeon Rats again its Iron Tower Studios and its on the same engine but its strictly a tactical combat so no story but the combat is like Dead State since its the same engine but even better.

Neo Scavenger is another excellent post apoc type of game. Solo much simpler and harder at the same time. Since its more of a RPG rogue like game. 1 save when you die you die. Think people have mods that you can export saves or something but I've never played it that way.
