This. Keep basic batons, and the steel ones too. Vic with a silenced 9mm in one hand and a telescopic baton in the other, is as close to GOD as you will get, against the dead.
Tactics vs Zombies:
1) Don't rush; move forward slowly until you are either close enough to initiate combat or they detect you.
2) Make sure NOT to pull in lots of zombies at once. A few (1-3) zombies are not much of a threat; many (10-20) will kill your party if you are not careful.
3) When you pulled too many zombies, use choakpoints such as doors and narrow corridors to make sure you cannot get attacked by many at once.
4) When facing many zombies, stay in formation. Do not let one of your party members get surrounded on all sides with zombies. Zombies don't do a great deal of damage but once a zombie pulls a party-member to the floor he / she will be an easy target for other zombies. Do NOT let zombies wrap around your flanks to attack you from the rear.
6) Be careful when line-of-sight is limited by obstacles such as doors, shelves and such. Move slowly and make sure your party members stay near.
7) There is little need to use firearms on zombies; save your ammo for human enemies.
8) Clear outdoor area's first before moving inside buildings; this prevents other zombies from hearing combat noise and enter a confined combat area while you are already engaged with other zombies.
