Are royalties the money you get or the publisher gets?
I think it is the money you get, but I'm not really sure.

I'm fairly sure it's the money you get.

Publishing deals are for making fans, not money.

Royalties are what you get as a percentage of profits. Publishing deals seem a little lopsided, you get some cash up front, do all the work yourself and hope like heck that your percentage of the profits covers the rest of the cost of developement. Of course its supposed to sell more, perhaps 10% of 1.2 M sales is better than all of 50K.

One of my publisher contract games sold 10 M units. I got all 10s on it. I think it is quite a lot for a medium sized game.

In my experience, with all things being equal, you'll get more money from a publisher-released game than releasing it yourself (if you have less than 100,000 fans for a medium, and 1,5M fans for a large game). Once you pass those fan thresholds though, you'll make more money releasing yourself.

agreed . You do seem to get good money from publishing deals considering.

Huu the cap are 100k and 1.5M?? I beleived it was 50K and 1M.

I wonder if some publishers bring more fans? And I could check myself roughly but what's the fans amount increase a publisher brings? 50% 100%?

Royalties is the % of money you get from total sales EX: Royalties 10% if the game sells for $10 You get $1 for every sale.
