I don't understand the sliders. (CLOSED)
I do not understand what the slider's are supposed to do when creating a game. From what I gather they effect the quality of the game but there is no value or measure of by how much etc, and they all seem to link to Time Allocation. Is it just a guessing game with a random chance at the end of making something decent? And what is the deal with the percent that pops up occasionally when moving the sliders?

The sliders affect how much time is put into the categories

That gives you an idea of how to work the sliders.
"From what I gather they effect the quality of the game but there is no value or measure of by how much etc, and they all seem to link to Time Allocation." <<<<< I just said that.

So all the genres have predetermined slider places for the best game?

Pretty much, yeah. I spend most games just cranking out the same 3 topic/genre combos so I don't have to keep chaning the sliders. There's a whole chart on the wiki for what works and what doesn't work.

LOL... I use the wiki chart and I still get 1-3 reviews.

I know what you mean. I enjoyed it right up until I would get non-stop bad reviews even if I had used the same method a really good game with the same bar measurements had... prior. I just tried this game again for the past possible 20 minutes and I'm literally done with it especially as I cannot figure out how to delete game >___<
If you have an icon somewhere on you desktop/startmenu right click it, click properties and there should be a open file location (may be different if you are not on windows 7 like me) once you find the folder just delete that ♥♥♥♥♥ if there is no uninstall exe.

you just don't understand how it work. if you go just after feelings of a game it works well. its clear that Adventures and RPGs are more story based right? and you can think of that Action games are based on good engines mostly. you can imagine that strategy games don't have a need of story and dialogues. even if that don't gets you to what you must do, you can make a gameport of a game to analyse what is important, also the reviews from the "allgamers" and what the all call like give you hint -> "they need to focus more on level design" and so on. If you still don't get the game at that point, simulations and strategy is not a game you should play.

oh and just completed all archievemnets YAY :ghlol:

It's just so shallow though. The first game I made I was just like hell yeah this game is just the kind of game I always wanted a zombie survival strategy game! Oh wait that's it you don't even get to see any kind of details about your game besides the name which you choose. You don't even get customer feedback or any reason as to why your game wasn't good or why it was good. All about making those moneys not making a good game. Especially not about making a good game you just take your first ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game and make your next one slightly better than your last ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game OVER AND OVER AND OVER consistancy > quality and i really hope this "Game developer simulator" isn't how real gaming companies work.

Rant over.

its a simulation strategy. its a tycoon game. it's not a game for everyone. its about managing a game company, with a bit of develope the games. in the gameport you get feedback like don't put the slider there and don't combine this. you can research new things, getting bigger and delegate work. this is an awesome concept to me, but hey don't get me wrong, this is just my opinion and when it is not what you expected, i will not say this is stupid. it's just your opinion :ghlol:

They adjust how much you focus on a category. Depending on how you change these, your game can be great, ok, or bad.

You need to developing game reports after every game. This gives you the information you need.
Under each slider there will be either + or -.

+++ Fill the slider to the top
++ Fill to 75-80%
- 50%
-- lower to 35-40%
--- lower to 20%

Hope this helps, but you also need to have staff with high stats. Design 700+ is a must have for 4 staff, while Technology 700+ is vital for 2 staff.

Thank you for finally explaining those symbols simply, that was biggest trouble I was having!

You can't just keep cranking out games using the same slider values. Something I have noticed is quite important is to keep doing more research and building new engines. Just like in real life, people aren't that impressed by sequels that use the same engine-they want something NEW.
