Which Kairosoft game are you going to plaigerize next?
I hope it's Grand Prix story, I love that one. Also, make sure you put in lots of preachy stuff about supporting indie developers while you're harvesting and profitting off of their ideas, thanks!

You sir, are an idiot.

Speaking of preachy, please stick with the smug self righteous anti-piracy measures, because they're unbelievably ironic when used in a stolen game and I find that adorable.

It's not plagerizing, they changed it. Free enterprise, you can use other peoples ideas if you want. As long as they are not exact. So I agree with iPeer. You are an idiot.

Idiocy. Just because it is similar, doesn't make it a copy. In fact, people like you are the ones who would have every fantasy movie/book/game/etc be forced to pay someone for using ideas like goblins, castles and magic.

It's not similar, it's the same exact game. I'm not saying it's illegal, but it's sure as ♥♥♥♥ immoral and I don't see where these guys get off riding their high horse about piracy when they're busy lifting other indie devs' ideas.

Copying ideas/concepts is a very different thing than outright stealing. Making a similar product to what someone else has already made is in no way wrong if you make the product entirely yourself.

Imagine the world today if such copying DIDN'T occur. You would have 1 brand of soft drink, 1 brand of toothpaste, 1 brand of car... Entire genres of games would not exist if people didn't take ideas from others. The human imagination is limited, not everything can be 100% original.

In fact, if you can take what somebody else already made and make a similar thing but do it better - thats a good thing, not an act of immorality.

Imagine if Firefox was never made because its "basically the same thing as Internet Explorer" and people didn't want to use the idea of a web browser. We would all be stuck with IE and wouldn't that be a terrible world to live in?

I agree with the OP, I like this game, but its a ripoff from Kairosoft. A good ripoff though. But it would have suited the devs if they made a reference to Kairosoft in their game, as a way to honor them for this great game idea!

This game indeed hold's a large amount of similarity's with the Kairosoft games, not that i mind :)

Honestly, I don't find an issue with them using the work of someone else. At least the developers made it clear that their game was heavily influenced by “Game Dev Story”. And that all the code for “Game Dev Tycoon” is made by them, and not taken from “Game Dev Story”. Not to mention that they did take some ideas and used them as the base layer to build something better off of. Just take a look at all the web browsers out there. Or a better comparison. Medal of Honor for ages was one of the leading games in the FPS genre. Then came along Call of Duty, and I'm speaking of its early years. Both had quite the same style of gameplay, granted Call of Duty started to lean toward a different direction, while the devs of Medal of Honor went on to other projects.

So in general the idea of taking ideas is such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Because at the end of the day its something original. Unless someone outright stole ideas, and this includes the general make up of the game. From code and all.

I agree, and for what it's worth I don't think this sort of clone should be illegal. However, greenheart has a lot of nerve with the snarky anti-piracy measures and all the "Support indie devs!" crap. Their attitude offends me more than their business practices.

Also, hate to nitpick, but IE is actually ripped off from Firefox (Firefox is the successor to Netscape, which is the successor to Mosaic, which was the first web browser as we know them)
