What is happening?
At some point when I'm playing the game, it suddenly says that my games are being pirated. Then my games don't do as good, and then I go bankrupt. I've tried over and over to get past that point, but nothing works.

What is going on?

well idk exactly the issue but they have a anti pirate system in the game so if you didn't buy it i think the game pirates your games to where you lose money

It's telling you not to steal games, stupid. You're being punished for your crime.

This game is almost 10 years old and is quite infamous for having this marvelous anti-piracy measure. It basically comes from the notion that this developer would make no money of this game if everbody liked it but didn't buy their game. They would also go bankrupt just like the in-game emulation.
So enjoy your special pirated version with the included guilttrip emulator some more.
Buy it if you want to continue beyond this point in-game.

Mate, I don't think you bought the game. They have a piracy failsafe, anyone who torrents the game will have the issue of piracy in the game. Buy it off steam and you'll be fine.

I downloaded a free copy from the internet.
