In the first few years you'll get a smash hit and sell like 300k copies and then you can move to a bigger office and train which is perfect. I've had some that get me 3m in the bank.
Just today I had moved at the end of year 2 and stayed solo for a few more titles but had 2.5m and was rocking Y5 year 5 with my 350Tech co-worker.
I had about 12 years of mediocrity with just enough to keep going and not enough to hire a new worker (I need 500k to search) or make a seriously upgraded new engine.
I get this if I train my guy a lot. Once I start training, the scores start to go down along with the sales. It doesn't matter what you do, you're not winning or at least getting a high score. Better just to restart.
So what I have noticed with my high score games is that I focus on working on the upgrades to new engines rather than training my Design or Tech attributes. If I avoid training I've had way higher frequency of success vs if I don't do much training at the beginning.
I have dozen save and trying to get higher scores at the end, here my conclusions :
1. Upgrade is everything, upgrade engine, team and stages resolve all bad scores. Start small team at early stage. At the final stage, I always replace person to higher D/T.
2. Tying to the best combination for one consoles and games, ex : PC for Strategy genre and Mature audience, if u get the best scores at least 9/10 ure in the right track.
3. Then u can trying with many 3 consoles with same +++ combination, chance is 50:50 but if u have abundance of money is worth to do it
4. Start small, don't give marketing too much money at start (stage 1 and 2), idk why but the ratings always flop. Casual genre at the start is your best bet for farming the money.
5. Give shot for your best game with sequel, this is always worked. But dont too often. I always try this with strategy/adventure genre and 3 consoles later with newer engine.
