From what I've seen, Action, Simulation and RPGs are much better options to create a truly successful game. Sometimes Adventures, but it depends. To actually get the perfect one you need to have a well experienced team with every team member having a specialization.
I have like 3 technical specialists and 4 design specialists in specific areas: Engine, Graphic, A.I., Story/Quests, World Design, Level Design and Gameplay. The better your team, the better AAA game will be. But before you start to create a new one make sure your team have boosts and they had some rest (vacation).
If you have enough money to cover the costs, take a little break for a few years and improve your team's skill, do some R&D stuff and create a better engine. Graphic V6 is a huge deal for AAAs.
You can release your first console without it having too much features, it's gonna turn profitable anyway. Just make sure you set your Lab bar to ~1.2m montly to cover the backlog and do some further researches along the way
