64-bit version for macOS?
Game Dev Tycoon is a 32-bit game. Within the next few weeks, macOS 10.15 "Catalina" will be released, and it does not allow 32-bit apps to run at all. This means that Mac users won't be able to run this game on the latest hardware.

The game already requires a minimum of macOS 10.7.5, which only exists as a 64-bit operating system. Therefore, releasing a 64-bit version of the game won't prevent any existing users from being able to play. Please consider releasing a 64-bit user soon so that we can continue to play this great game!

Please let us know if you see any Catalina-specific issues.

And now macOS 10.15 Catalina is released, so any Mac users who have upgraded can't play this any more. Any chance of an updated version?

My Steam-version of the game lags a lot. It's not playable. But i purchased the game on GreenHearts site and that version works fine in Catalina.

Hey so I just went to try and re-install this but the steam page still says the same "This game is not compatible with 64-bit systems" message plastered across the screen and the "Install" button is grayed out. I know you commented this 23 minutes ago, but maybe there's something you've gotta tell steam to update their page?

I'll investigate. Thanks for letting me know.

I think this should be all good now. Please let me know if it works now.

Works for me! There is a small bit of weirdness in that the "Access the Steam Overlay" notification you get when you start up the game is tiny (Retina display issues?), but the game is the proper size and otherwise, it appears to work great. Thank you so much for your hard work!

@Aseng0221 are there any error messages? Can you check if you are on the latest version? Perhaps trying to uninstall/re-install could help.

Whenever I try to launch the game I get a pop-up that "An error occured updating Game-Dev Tycoon (Unkown Error)", even though I'm playing a fresh install. Any chance that this is a problem caused by Catalina?

Hello, since I've installed Catalina and updated Steam, GDT puts a huge load on the processor (210%, according to iStats Menus), with all fans going off full blast. Config = 2017 13" MBP. I've cleaned up and reinstalled Steam and GDT, + removed mods. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Can you check if the game is overusing the CPU on Catalina? I have seen this problem on other games like Football Manager 2020. It feels like this game shouldn't be that demanding but it is using up a lot and really heating my laptop (Macbook Pro 2015 for reference).

Yes, it does, as I explained.
