Half Sword

Half Sword

I think stabbing needs some work
I will say that using alt to thrust is difficult, even more so using the right click twice thing. If you ask me, I believe hold down alt and pressing LMB would work better for thrusting. Also, I would believe that daggers should automatically target unarmored areas without player input if that could be coded in.

Agreed that thrusting needs a rework.

I like the idea of clicking once to thrust and auto targeting for daggers.

One exception/addition, the auto target could be for a few specific spots such as visor, neck and armpit with a high, middle and low option.

My thoughts exactly, I have trouble trying to stab the unarmored groin of a boss for a few rounds until I just modified my damage
Right now, you're better off holding the knife and running into them.

well I tried to make a post about it but it got no attention. hold alt and stab out all the way then let go of alt. that sets the final stab position. then you can have your weapon in a stance that can stab you can press alt and it stabs nicely. right click twice never worked for me. so at that point you hold lmb and press alt and it will stab and then when you let go of alt it brings the weapon back where it was.
breh. aim the point of your weapon towards the enemy before thrusting, don't thrust when not in range to land with one long step. Thrusts are inherently hard to aim by their nature, this is the most obvious skill issue I've seen in this discussion board.

Me when I make up lies for fun:
just hold down alt and left click, and move the mouse up and down? im not sure if you are aware of this but it sounds like a pretty similar solution to the hypothetical one you provided

I like the idea of auto-targeting with a dagger in armored combat but it should be subtle and still require the player to be suitably precise.

Of course, otherwise it would get too cheaty.
You ever knock a knight down and try to stab them under the arm? It's basically gambling. Visor? Literally impossible. Neck? Good luck. The mechanics are all there, but the damn dagger just won't go in when it should.

bro you can literally aim directly at them, well within range and have your blade just go past their side. I've literally had my blade practically touching them before I push forward just to have it do nothing. This isn't just a skill issue, the game has a fundamental problem with stabs even penetrating. This can happen even when you have a target on the damn ground. I have 200 hours man, i'm not some random noob. I hit neck and head shots often, I know how to aim.

Edit: To be clear i'm talking about bladed weapons more so then spears. Spears are better at getting stabs in but it's also a damn spear.

The only thrusting weapon I found useful in the game so far are the pitchfork and spiked staff everything else especially swords is like trying to stab someone with a pool noodle it just slides to the side and if your lucky hit them in the arm.
thrusting was better before
I just wish you could toggle thrusting, rather than having to hold alt
