Why is the first boss so hard?

I don't know what happened but I had no trouble with the first boss on Sunday, played all day beat him about 25x. Starting yesterday I have beat him once on over 50 tries. He seems way more aggressive and either one shots me or kills me immediately on the ground with no time to tap.

i think the issue people have is that they're treating the champions like they're just a standard npc, i'm getting the feeling these guys just run full tilt towards 'em and expect it to work 100% of the time

i dunno i can breeze through the bosses after axe boi but for some reason he just ♥♥♥♥♥ me up immediately. Sometimes when i hit him my dude just falls over for some dumbass reason... then my head gets the choppy

From what I can tell based on an earlier thread I posted, enemies in general take disproportionately lower damage than the player. You're gonna want the gauntlets to spawn, so that you can land some solid punches after stabbing the headsman

im the complete opposite, axe man is really easy but every other boss ♥♥♥♥♥ me up.
