Half Sword

Half Sword

how exactly does the fighting mechanics work?
Am I supposed to release the mouse button at some point during the release/windup or do something special with the mouse to do proper attacks?

I have played this game for well over 15h and I still only do proper attacks every once in a while, its like the swords especially refuses to be pointed out and they have some wierd restrain so I never really hit dead-on with them.

Should you step into attacks, go to the side, follow the swing with the mouse in just the right speed or something?

Nothing like that really. I will tell in the context of rank 3 with a longsword. First you should lower mouse sense ofc. The normal hits are easy. Just hold the mouse button, the lock on feature will aim the camera at the enemy, hold shift to go into a fighting stance and to make it easier to dodge, and do small jabs at the opponents sword to stop their attack and then instantly strike from the sides while closing distance. You do that by winding up the attack, moving your sword to the left or right, and then just moving the mouse the oponents direction with slight corrections if necessary. Then you can do a thrusting jab. Hold alt and mouse button. You have to keep distance and then after an opponents attack, you close a bit of distance and jab the sword in the chest or the arm. And there's basically the same thing but with a half sword. You can also get the half sword behind someone's head and pull to probably decapitate them.
nah the playtest became completely uncontrollable in comparison to the old demo. i cant hit a target with the blade side, mostly hit with the flat side.
any piercing/thrusting attacks are completely uncontrollable:
only way i found is run toward target and only at the last second hit double click. the thing is that in the thrusting position with any weapon, the character is not using any strenght to hold the weapon in front, it's like just standing there relaxed and the weapon slides on enemy armor.
blunt weapons i cant even unterstand, tried a fight with the one handed mace and when swinging the character is not even using the tip of the mace as contact point but his hands, making the entire mace a cosmetic object in a boxing match

Not Sure if this is A Joke-Game or not,
The mechanics are rriiiggghhtt-oonnn-thhe-liinee between "needs work" & "Intentionally rediculous"

No offence, but I think thats just a skill issue. Playtest feels WAY less janky than the demo. You cant just wiggle your sword and win every time. Try playing rank 3 for a bit with a long sword and practice swinging, stabbing with alt and actually playing the game like its supposed to be played and not just wiggling a sword around the enemy, trying to saw into a weal spot.

Are you talking about the demo, or the playtest? The demo is really old and wasnt updated in a LONG while.

no offence given bro, i have issues with actually having the weapon swing where i want it to, maybe i should drop the sensitivity? also every overhead attack seems to be broken animation wise cos the character removes his left hand from the weapon and the weapon itself shakes uncontrollably. i'll get into it later
