any good strat for counter spears?

usually i try to knock the spear to the side with a shield and go for the killing blow or dodge the first 2 attacks but i still feel its a 50/50

If you have a shield just try to block and rush past the spear tip.

knock the spear to fling it away from you and get close by sprint and slide to right or left away from the spear and hit them. if they have armour target the neck area. or you can try to throw a weapon and hope for a epic hit

ready your swing while going after the spear guy it takes him awhile to swing you should have just the right amount of time to rush in and whack him thats what i do it works 95% of the time

swing at them from a distance and they will start to attack leaving them open.

I just back away until they lift their spear up then i charge in and whoop them

NGL half-swording with a longsword seemes pretty successful too in my experience. Its just getting a longsword that is hard. I got a lucky break and got a rare find when the spears started coming out and experimented with it. Half-swording allows you to brace your sword and essentially use it like a short spear to set the point aside. At which point you close in fast and the AI does not know what to do.

Yes but only with longswords, greatswords, and some arming swords
