You are sharing your opinion (combat bad)
And I'm sharing mine (combat good)
Is everything alright friendo?
It is sort of objectively bad though(as in, it doesn't actually work properly).
holding a shield in front of a weapon swing will often have the weapon clip through the shield, even spear heads can hit your body straight through the shield.
due to the clipping issues with a lot of items, you cannot fight 'properly' and in almost every case, people resort to either spamming the heck out of left and right swings, backpedal, or abuse the spears, scythes and triple shield setup.
Sure you can beat the game without swinging at breakneck speeds, but when the vast majority of the visual (by visual I mean streamers, youtubers etc, you get it) playerbase resorts to doing that, it kind of forms a pattern that something's not right.
Does it matter though? not really (IMO), to me the game is fun, the combat is wonky and if i want a more tactical experience, I just load up exanima.
And again, the game is more than likely just meant to be a fun meme project aimed at twitch and so on, like many other wonky indie titles.
It's fun and I enjoy it for what it is.
Exanima is a good game, but it is also an isometric game that you don't fully control the location of your swings. This? You can sweep their legs, knock the weapons out of their hands, end it all in one blow (which you can also do in exanima.) and so much more. The combat is not "Terrible." it is physics based and those physics, are wacky and hard to program properly, but the developers imo did a fantastic job.
