Crash to desktop after Type-Moon logo and warning

I've tried literally everything to get this to work and nothing works. I've forced it to downgrade directx, tried a bunch of compatability mode stuff, reinstalled every codec ever at someone's suggestion it could be a movie playback issue? Then again I know how this VN opens and there's no immediate opening movie.

I would've given up by now, I'm trying to play it on an ancient laptop so a lot of games are simply hopelessly incompatible, but I tried running it on my Linux install through Proton and it worked perfectly fine so I'm genuinely just confused on why it crashes with Windows.

Single integrated GPU, I don't doubt that it's probably the issue I just think it's weird that it's a Windows issue specifically.

could be an issue with windows drivers
linux might have better ones for your igpu

For me it was the intergrated gpu.İ saw some VNs having problem with İntel cards.

Have you managed to find a solution to this issue? I'm encountering the exact same type of crash and it's odd.

I had this exact problem and managed to fix it through some guide. I went to the system settings: System => Display => Graphic settings. There I added games exe file and set the High perfomance setting. After that my game worked, hope it helps
