Should I stop after getting a bad ending?
Doing my first playthrough on the game and got the ending where I'm cut in half by Caster (I think) while choosing to confront the master at Ryudou Temple.
Now, I was heavily invested in the narrative, but fighting was the choice I made as Shirou. It doesn't feel right for me to go back on my first playthrough, and I feel bad about restarting that choice.

I think I will end the game here. In this universe, Shirou was just stupid and got killed. The end. The game even pokes fun at the player for even thinking of something so stupid.

I'm probably gonna put the game down. I'll probably discuss the game with people who got different endings at one point, but yeah, my playthrough was pretty lame.

I don't think that makes much sense. There's one choice in the game where you have to go upstairs or downstairs, one gets you killed, the other one doesn't. It doesn't make any sense to stop playing there because you chose the wrong one.

Let me put it that way: dying at the temple was MY ending. No matter what I'll choose or do afterwards, this is how Shirou ends for me. Playing the rest of the game feels too much like a cope, now I'm disconnected from everything that happens because I know I'm not supposed to see the other paths.

Is this your first visual novel or something? Seeing various bad ends on your way to the good end is half the fun of the game. It even keeps track of which bad endings you've reached and rewards you for it with bonus scenes in the extras section. There is no one true path either. In fact you're required to play through the game start to finish a minimum of 3 times (there are 5 main endings, but you can just reload a save for the other 2).

The sequel, Fate/hollow ataraxia (which comes out sometime next year), also indirectly suggests that all endings occurred simultaneously in parallel timelines. Two of the characters nearly made them converge by accident.

The idea of the game is to reach death end and continue. It intention is not to offer a personal story which ends with you dying. The bad ends are their to show how things could have played out if Shirou made another choice and shows what the bad guys were planning to to in that situation. The bad ends often offer characterization and info you wouldn't get in the main story. You're incentivized to explore all bad ends. You also get stamp for each one which will unlock a bonus scene at the end.

I think they're just trolling.

What? No. That'd be like playing ocarina of time, dying, and then saying "well I guess I can only play downfall timeline games now cause my Link didn't beat Ganon." It's just such a weird, arbitrary place to stop.

Tbf, you paid for the game, how you enjoy it is up to you, but you're missing out on a lot by stopping at the first dead end you get. Seeing all the tiger dojos was a big part of the fun for me when I played it

This is...an exceptionally weird take about a VN that famously has three completely different alternate routes...

By your point of view, if you had made it through "Fate" without a bad end, you would have ignored "Unlimited Blade Works" and "Heaven's Feel" entirely and thus skip 2/3 of the entire VN? Wild...

Don't stop after getting a bad ending or a dead end. Just save before making a decision and load the save if you made a wrong choice.

i agree with shirou being stupid but who actually plays this without a walkthrough
theres like 40 endings where you get killed because of bad choices
quitting cuz of that is just childish

If you really don't like getting a bad ending or a dead end you can sort of exploit the flowchart to cheat in certain instances to avoid getting killed. Other than that you can also avoid getting killed by paying attention to the story to understand better why you shouldn't take certain decisions.

So far, the only two Dead End's i have gotten resulted exclusively from listening to Saber, while Shirou's idealistic and "selfish" decisions resulted in good outcomes.
So i'm not entirely sure who's really stupid here :D

Eh i made a guide on how to get true endings and avoid bad choices for those that just wanna be done with this quickly.
Easier that way, especially for first route where people claim there is no bad ending but alas if you annoy saber a lot, she kills you at literally the end,day 15 and you gotta restart aaaaaaaallll the way back.
Thats just brutal

Still him
First route not allowing saber to fight because shes a girl
Second route still choosing bad route in life and not listening to archer how badly he will end.
And third route not killing sakura and saving hundreds of lives.

Hes childish and empty. I never liked him or agreed with him on anything
