PSA : Don't forget to unmute Shirou in the Sound option
No idea why, but they decided Shirou will be muted by default. So go to config, advanced settings, sound settings, scroll down to the characters and you'll see Shirou's portrait greyed out. Click on it to unmute him

Thanks for the tip!
Weird to have him muted by default

Thanks, I was wondering why he wasn't talking in the Rin Prologue, had to boot up the old PC version to see if he had his voice in it.

Would it be weird to say im not that much of a fan of his voice?
I am in love with deep serious voices in animes like Sigurd,Archer,Kirei,Asvatham,Vlad

Seems like Tohsaka's Father (Tokiomi) also doesn't speak when he should.
Source: He has lines right near the start in previous versions: https://fatestaynight.vnovel.org/prologue/1#page12

(Not 100% sure if this is due to configuration, like with Emiya, or if his voice lines have been removed.)

God this is such a disaster of a remaster

No it isn't - the initial problems with the bugged video are now patched.

As for Shirou's voice being absent, this is deliberate and was also the case with the PS Vita version (which this is based on). Stop finding fault and instead enjoy the game.

Some other VNs do that too. I think it's for immersion.
Think of other games where you play the main character and don't want to be ripped out of the immersion by someone else voicing your character (games like the Elder Scrolls for example. Similiarly to that game you're usually in a first person perspective, i.e. you can't see yourself on screen.)
It's just a conclusion made from observing other VNs and RPGs, so take it with a grain of salt:steamsalty:

Shirou being muted is intentional. All of Realta Nua releases do this.

Is there a reason for Shirou muted? Does it spoil some sort of future plot?

No, not at all. The original has his voice play like normal. Realta Nua (version this Remastered is based on) simply decided to mute him, that's it.

Thanks for this post. I didn't know he was even voiced, since this is my first time playing.

To make him a self insert since those are popular which nasu made him to be a parody of. Calling out the typical shounen idealistic heroes and the dnd edgelord
