How does this version compared to the pc Realta Nua version?

I genuinely like the translation better for the Remastered version. And let's not nitpick name spelling - I mean overall the English localization just flows better. It's worth it for that in my opinion. But that's just my preference - I never cared for the additional fan patched H content since Realta Nua shipped without it anyway. So no shabby cutting involved whatsoever.

Either way you should read this VN. Buy it too, when you get the chance. It'll support the effort to bring more like it to the West.

Oh nice! Long time no see! On your recommendation, I went ahead and played the Tsukihime remake. Loved it so much I finished all the endings, both good and bad! It really was excellent. Can't wait to see the second part. This VN came at a good time as I just wrapped that one up.

Nice! Did you read the original as well? That's what i'm doing right now before I read the remake. Also keep in mind that the second part to the remake will have 3 or possibly 4 new routes. The Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku routes, possibly with the all new Sachi route. They Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku routes were in the original. If you're wondering why they are split up, it is because the Arcueid and Ciel routes are the near side routes. They look much more into vampire society and the church. The near side routes deal more with the secrets of the Tohno family and the mansion, and show the crumbling of Shiki's psyche and his slow descent into madness. I know you said you already know there is a second part planned but this was just for some context on it.

So did you also finish reading Fate Stay night or Witch on The Holy Night?

Lol fair. Actually, I just set myself to away and never undid it. I was playing Baldr Sky on the Steam Deck just last week. Mostly though I play on my switch or PS5. Switch has all my otome VNs and PS5 is where I play most of my graphically intensive games since my PC is 8 years old...

And nah, I never finished the original Fate/Stay Night. I had a hard time getting my Steam Deck to play it and decided it would be less hassle to just wait for the Remaster (which I am loving on the Deck right now btw). I am in the middle of Witch On the Holy Night, but now that I have played the Tsukihime Remake, I think I want to play it again from the start with fresh eyes after I finish this monster-sized VN.

I would highly recommend reading the original Tsukihime if you can. It is super easy to get a pre-patched version. In fact, here: https://www.readtsukihi.me

It is very good if bare bones. And the remake did change the story a bit so you won't just be reading the same thing. The routes are also far shorter. It is pretty dated. The art is rough to say the least. The soundtrack is okay but only has 10 tracks, and some sections of the vn just have no music. There are also minimal sound effects and some times just none. Also no voice acting. But aside from that, it is still a great read, and you can go and see all the differences between it and the remake. As well as seeing what Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku's routes are about. And the remake will also have changed them so you'll see a different story.

It seems that the movie only adapts scenes up to chapter to 5, so maybe the movie will actually have good pacing! But it's Ufotable, and with how much they butchered the Fate Stay Night adaptations, I am going to be pessimistic and assume it will be bad. Then when I see it, I will either not have gotten my hopes up for nothing. Or I will be pleasantly surprised.

Doesn't allow for you to change the music. Doesn't allow for you to enable sex scenes. Doesn't allow for you to change openings.

Basically it's just a port of the base Realta Nua and not the fan patched Realta Nua that allowed for lots of customisation.

The sex scenes were terrible. And I love erotic games (some of them at least) but those sex scenes were horrible. Completely forced, ruining the characters, they felt like blobs over the narrative.

If you really want to, search rule 34. Much better content in any fanfic.

I had the original version, patched with the realta nua content and the only problems I am having with this one is that the music sounds too good and the opening doesn't feel familiar. Therefore I don't like them. I suppose I'll get used to them. Objectively, using my ears to hear and not so much my brain (too many memories from the original), I think the remaster is better.

And having it on steam feels like a luxury. If you are a big fan (or an old nostalgic fan like me) this version is a must. For now, at least. If they ruin some of the main themes at the end I will be very angry.

Yes they were terrible, but if people want them, then it should be something that is allowed. The fan patched version gives you the option to use them and there is nothing wrong with that. Also from what I hear, they do actually have a role to play in Heavens Feel, can't comment on if that was true, but it seems like they changed a characters backstory to make it less ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

Yes they were terrible, but if people want them, then it should be something that is allowed. The fan patched version gives you the option to use them and there is nothing wrong with that. Sex scenes in the heaven's feel route barely play a role. The entire tone of heaven's feel route was... you know, lovecraft in japan... there was a sexual subtext during the entire route, a very sexual background was placed for Sakura. You would think that the sex scenes would play a role but not really. Most of it was implied, heard or told, very little graphic support at all. And makes sense because one thing is making lovey sex scenes and a very different thing is representing the sick/♥♥♥♥♥♥ up things they did to/with Sakura. The only graphic scene I can remember would have looked better if it was just implied with subtlety. I'll admit that, that specific scene, wasn't so offensive as the others in different routes.

About having options, sure. But one way or another these are games that people will always try to modify, no matter the version. I think the basic version here is plenty superior. Very soon there will be mods, they are very easy to add, the structure is pretty much the same. And people will want translations too. So it will happen if it didn't happen already.

But one way or another, me personally, I don't count the removal of the sex scenes as a con. So many people would play the first time with those activated without knowing how much they hurt the immersion and narrative experience. Their removal strictly improves the main product. Some times, less is more. But sure, I can understand people who just want more stuff, good or bad, for the sake of having more stuff.

I think the only terrible one is the Saber scene, and even then, the second scene is fine. Rin's scene was done much better in the original because the dolphin part was ridiculous, not to mention them retconning the fact that you can't transfer parts of your crest to other people. The Sakura scenes are definitely the best and make Shirou and Sakura's relationship feel a lot more intimate.

Strongly disagree. Those are not so offensive but I won't give anything else. The erotic scenes in the game are subject to a terrible standard. You are trying to save what you can when compared with such a very low reference point.

Not really. I've played enough VNs and seen enough scenes to know what "good" ones look like, and I'm not saying the Fate scenes are amazing. I'm just comparing the original scenes to Realta Nua, and I prefer the original ones. I'd rather have Shirou consummate his relationship with Rin through a ritual that not only helps them defeat the antagonist but also deepens their relationship, than watch the silly dolphin scene that contradicts what was previously established (and was clearly a retcon), lol.

I can't take romance without sex seriously, especially when the characters clearly love each other and could die at any moment, lol. So to me: mid sex scenes (aside from the first Saber scene) > mid PG-13 replacement scenes.

I only played the uncensored version, but I agree with the general consensus that the sex scenes were generally not that great, so you ain't missing much, but it might be better play something that supports them so you don't have to FEEL LIKE YOU MIGHT BE MISSING OUT, which is the real problem with the censored versions.
