you're gonna see it like 3 times in the game, who cares

Ultimately it's a made-up name, so I don't really see the issue with Nasu deciding how it's spelled. It's not like Hellsing's "Arucard" debacle where it's supposed to be an existing name spelled backwards.

Basically made up to be Arthur's feminine version and giving off a hint about her true identity - so it's pretty crucial. This is the exact same as the Alucard-Dracula debacle.

What do you mean hint? Her name isn't revealed until after her identity out in the open.

True. I remember the name is revealed at the same time as the explanation in the VN.
For those who don’t know the name wasn’t changed because of ‘bad localisation’ or bad translation or anything like that

It was changed for legal reasons. The name ‘Artoria’ is owned by the furyu figure company now and can’t be used outside of Japan because of licensing issues

It’s a bit like how you can’t use the name ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in the west but you can in Japan. That’s why they don’t use Sherlock’s name in the ‘the great ace attorney’ English language version but in the Japanese version the protagonist is ‘Sherlock Holmes’

It’s a legal issue, sorry guys, don’t blame the localisers

This seems to suggest the complete opposite of what you're claiming. They're talking about figures released by them being called Altria. It's also complete nonsense because Extella Link was released in English in 2019 and spelled it Artoria (these games don't have as much direct oversight from Type-Moon as FGO does).

Why do you think I asked if you can read Japanese, it's not in the english text area

anyway read my comment in the name mod thread as to why you are wrong

...what are you talking about? The Japanese spelling of her name is completely irrelevant to this conversation. If you're suggesting that there's a copyright on the Japanese spelling, that would just mean they can't use アルトリア. It wouldn't prevent them from using Altria, Artoria, Arutoria, Altoria, or whatever other weird romanization you feel like using.

You cannot Copyright a Name, you can only Copyright a Character along with the name used BY them.

The issue with Sherlock Holmes is when it is used with a Character that is CLEARLY Sherlock. If you make a Super Hero called Sherlock Holmes that is not the Character (Personality, Job, Ect) then you can use Names as you please.

Someone else cannot use the same Character Design with the Name Arturia/Artoria and claim a Copyright, thats not how Copyright Law works.

Artoria is the only correct form.

Facts. But apparently Nasu doesn't like being wrong, so he'll never allow it to be officially fixed.
