Is this game better than Heist 1?
I didn't enjoy the first game, is it possible I'll still enjoy this one, or is it more of the same?

It is different in some aspects and same in some others. The major difference is a class system (any character can be of any class and even multi-class) and global map (it is a real-time top-down arcade now). The core tactical gameplay is similar. So, if you did not like playing first one, you won't enjoy the second either, I'm afraid.

I thought the first game was bad, but I see better reviews for this one. Might give it a look on a big enough sale or if I catch it in a bundle somewhere.

I find heist 2 to be unplayable without the option to zoom out during missions. the camera is too tight on the player

Heist 2's basically Heist 1++ - if you didn't like Heist 1, there's no fundamental, deepset change to the formula that'll change your mind!

thanks, that's what I was looking for. I thought maybe they fixed some of the grindyness, poor difficulty scaling and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hat RNG system that made the first game a miserable experience for me.

Yeah the FOV is really narrow, which makes it quite frustrating for the sniper job to be effective. Not gamebreaking, but that was a bit of a bugbear. To be honest, the font size, UI Size and narrow FOV leads me to believe it was primarily designed for handheld.

this one is worse in pretty much every way than the first, so if you didnt like that then you definitely wont like this.

you mean in every respect I mentioned or just in generral?
First one is better in every single way.
More content doesnt mean better.
This second installment of the franchise is bogged down with excessive management.
First one is just straighforward!

sad, yeah, I thought the first one was bad, so if the fans of the first one are so split, then I'm not interested. Thanks for the info!

It isn't as good as the first one. It also isn't as good as either Steamworld Dig game

I played them in order and in my opinion both are great. I have about 12 hours in the first one and 53 in the second.

2 wasn't out when I played 1 though.

If you were going to pick only one of them then you should buy the second one. If you want to appreciate why the second game is terrific then start with the first.

Happy digging.
