How to fix bugged achievements

So I am seeing a lot of people have trouble with achievements popping on this game. I had same experience but fixed the problem. I thought I would create a guide to fix the issue.



Step one:

Exit out of game. Open steam. Turn off the enabled steam cloud setting by going to Steam, settings, disable steam cloud.

Step two:

Create a random new folder on your desktop and name this “STEAM ACTUAL SAVE DATA THPS”.

You will only use this folder to store your actual save data and game progress while you start a new save to pop the achievements.

Step 3

Go into
Windows+R / write "%localappdata%" VicariousVisions\THPS\

In this folder there is a folder called “SavedGames”

Open this folder… highlight and drag all of these files in this folder to the new folder created in step 2 that is on your desktop. Do not delete these files. You will want to drag these back to this folder once you are done with achievements you were having issue with. Once the “SavedGames” folder is now empty and the files moved to new folder “STEAM ACTUAL SAVE DATA THPS“ proceed to next step.

Step 4: Open game and complete the achievement you have been trying to unlock: example: complete high as a kite (1,000,000) combo in single session on crew tour. You should be able to pop achievements on this new save created.

Once you have obtained achievements you are seeking proceed to next step.


Step 5 - Exit out of game. Go back to “SavedGames” by doing Windows+R / write "%localappdata%" VicariousVisions\THPS\

Now in this folder highlight and delete all of the files in it. Open up previous save files in the folder we created named “STEAM ACTUAL SAVE DATA THPS”. Once you see those files highlight them all again and drag them back into the original “SavedGames” file. Once this is completed exit out of folder and steam. Proceed.

Step 6: Turn steam cloud back on and if asked about which save file to use choose the previous save (that we added back to “SavedGames” folder. Restart the game. This should load your previous progress save file and you should be able to resume gameplay as you were before seeking the glitched achievements.



Disclaimer: Be careful to not lose prior save data. This is the process that I used that worked. I did sometimes have to repeat the process two times to get certain achievements to recognize my progress I made in new save file. Additionally, be sure to not delete prior save file and if you do restore it from recycle bin. Hope this helps people that were having the unlocking achievement issue. Good luck!

Thank you very much for your tutorial, it worked for me and I unlocked the steam combo 1,000,000 achievement.

He does have a private profile too which is baffling since hes cheesing achievements to show off to who? lmao

Rookie finally did pop, but the one mil again won't unlock. Tried this before, but still didn't do anything after the patch. Did regular career run, did the cretate-a-park that landed me 10 mil and still nothing.

its not cheating if you unlock the achievement by playing but due to a bug it doesn't unlock on steam.. people like you shouldn't be allowed on the internet !

using sam is still miles better and smarter than going through all the ♥♥♥♥ to create a new save game to unlock a bugged achievement if you unlocked it before.

like for me the "get hit by the bull in bullring" achievement didn't want to unlock despite me getting hit by the bull dozens of times. so i used sam to unlock the achievement and this had nothing to do with cheating, its a workaround the bugs which most likely will never be fixed because its activision...

what does this even mean you numpty, I'm level 70 in this game and have done the achievements multiple times over without them popping pop, have some top 10 times in the leaderboard.
If I want to unlock them then that's up to me, follow the laborious guide if you want but its a waste of time when SAM exists for this reason.

SAM only the bugged ones or the ones you can't do? Who can even tell? Hence looks like you cheat for achievements. If it makes you feel good at night to hit a button and get something for free, so be it. I work for everything I earn.

didn't realise there were bugged achievements. I'm halfway done, and don't think I've encountered any. I hope not. But thanks for the heads up

My assesment was clear, using SAM for broken achievements. If you wanna think I'm a liar, you can. I've personnaly never used SAM but who can tell ? And how about you ? Who can tell ?
So what the point ? You may think everyone is cheating, but that's not the point, cause I was talking about broken achievements, and broken achievements only

But if you prefer to do level 100 again cause of broken achievements, you can, no one won't care, and no one won't know it either.
