Any way to mod the soundtrack?

Miss the old THPS1 menu music, don't like using Spotify in the background for a number of reasons, anyone know if there's a way to mod the soundtrack? Missing Committed by Unsane is a dealbreaker for me, gonna refund if there's no way to add it in.

It's an always online game... that's going to make modding a bit more complicated.

It all depends on what it's phoning home to check. The game already has a mod to automatically skip the videos that play when you open it, and plenty of mods that replace the character model, so it's not like modding is impossible.

Not really, there's already 3 and 4 levels available no issue. I have it installed, and I've played about 6 hours online.

Well when you’re talking about a game that sells on the nostalgia for another, and that original game only having a 8 song long soundtrack, even a single missing song is a big deal. To clarify though, the one missing song isn't the only reason I'm considering refunding, it's more like the straw breaking the camel's back. The bigger issue is it's already a three year old game so who knows how long it's servers are gonna stay up, compound that with the fact it's online only means we'll lose access to the game completely one Activision decides it isn't profitable, not just the multiplayer. I can play my Nintendo 64 copy of THPS for as long as live if I keep the hardware in good shape (it's already given my former neighbor and I 24 years of enjoyment), this remake however has a finite end date that's quite likely less than 10 years from now. Hell, 10 years is a very optimistic estimate, it might not even last half that.

I've been trying to figure this out too, playing a media player over the game sucks because you don't get the dynamic soundtrack changes.

I just want to add THPS3 soundtrack. There's movie files, but don't see songs I could simply copy-paste over.

Put this in the launch options! No more online-only requirement when you're not playing on Steam Deck! Totally works for me!

As far as I know, and I could be wrong, you'd need to extract each of the pak files using UE Viewer. Doing so requires an AES Key specific to the game.

Once you've done that, you will find the music files under '...\Base\Content\Audio\Events\Music\Soundtrack\Soundtrack_Play_Events'. Your custom music format would need converted to a UASSET file and UEXP File.

You'll need to then edit the MUS_Global.xml file located in "Base/Content/WwiseAudio/ Windows" to look like this:

"<Event Id="76836885" Name="MUS_Preview_LessThanJake_BombDrop" ObjectPath="\Events\Default Work Unit\MUS\Music\Preview Events\MUS_Preview_LessThanJake_BombDrop" GUID="{985C869D-8AAB-4563-8904-74AFC435E32D}" DurationType="OneShot" DurationMin="179.699478" DurationMax="179.699478"/>"

Then repack the files.

I would assume once the file's been made the first time it's as simple as distributing the packed file rather than having each individual user remaking it every single time with a batch file that installs software like ue viewer...
that being said some of that went over my head so I could be wrong. This is well beyond my limited modding knowledge.

Hello there, i tried to access to the game files and it seems that is protected with AES encryption, There is no way that we can get access to the .pak files since these files use SteamStub DRM protection. UE viewer requires the Keys to give you access to the files. But it is not possible. Thank you for that info tho it was helpful.

So i have a steam deck and there is a plugin that adds the main menu music from the files of each game. To my suprise the original OG menue music plays when i pull up the remake. The audio from the originall game is in the files!!
