The other was kind of a remix of a handful of different areas from the first few games with manuals added in (if you bought the DLC).
This is by /far/ the superior version, especially if we ever get the (originally cancelled at this point) THPS 3 + 4.
Actually the game has been out for years on epic, this is merely a steamworks version. It'll be completely identical, which is good because the game runs great.
thps 1-2 on the other hand is a masterpiece. its a perfect remake, snappy fast and precice. thps hd felt like you play it in slow motion loool. when i tried it after playing thps 1+2 (bought on epic store) i got a shock how bad it was..
would be amazing to get thps 3+4 with the same quality as this remake here.. and then underground 1+2 would be amazing too :D but i doubt they will ever make those games and even if, vicarious visions, as a reward for creating a masterpiece, was destroyed and dismantled by activision so this studio, which basically was one of the best dev studios on the planet, is no more. its dead and its impossible to get it back because some people (the leadership) even left activision completely.
and if any other studio takes over for thps 3+4 its doubtful if they will be able to stay 100% true to the original and deliver a masterpiece like vicarious visions did.
i'll never forgive activison for killing bizzare creations after they made a masterpiece (blur) and for killing vicarious visions after they made a masterpiece (thps 1+2). just shows how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ inhuman activision is, how they don't care about anything at all, even true art, and all they care for is some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ numbers...
edit: and that said, thps 1+2, in contrary to blur, even sold well but activison wanted another billion seller which obviously it never had any chance to become so they dismantled vicarious visions because selling a few million copies wasn't enough for those greedy corporate ♥♥♥♥♥.....
I'm curious why we can't pre-order this version (2023), anyone got an idea of what the price may be?
Why pre order a game the day before release?
From the Wikipedia page, it wasn't destroyed and dismantled. The CEO and leads got promoted within Activision, and the rest was kept as Blizzard Albany. They even have the same offices they did before. It was just that their plans for THPS 3+4 got scrapped internally and they got put in as support on the Diablo games (1 & 2's remake/remasters and Diablo IV). So while they were under the giant Activision umbrella, this was an internal Blizzard call.
Since Diablo IV is already released, and THPS 1+2 FINALLY hit Steam where it can get some sales, there might be a more internal push for the sequels, not to mention the MS acquisition right around the corner. If this sells well here, it might signal to MS that it'd be worth doing the sequels.
Oh, and I'd toss in American Wasteland in with THUG 1 + 2.
Obligatory: 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞
I get it, the physics are barely there, but it's not Tony Hawk's Motion and it actually has levels from 3.
My one hope is that they left the music tracks alone and only enhanced the audio, the soundtrack was perfect.
