Welcome, friends, to Steam,
a video game digital distribution service and storefront.

Steam is on the PC
Also known as the Personal Computer

Personal Computers have Keyboards and Mice

Weirdly, I still have not received a controller with any of my Steam downloads, and I don't expect that to change in the future

So, when developing a game for the PC, I suggest you develop it For. The. PC.

Welcome to Steam! Glad you could be here!

You can purchase PC-compatible gaming controllers at many retail locations in your area, or through your online retailer of choice. This will make it much easier for you to play games in your Steam library that are designed to be played with a controller.

I know it can be a confusing issue for a first-time user. But try not to get discouraged. I myself used my PC as a footrest for six whole months before a friend recommended that I buy a monitor for it. Boy, was there egg on my face that day!

Anyway, I hope I was able to help clarify your problem. Best of luck finding a controller! I'm sure in time, you'll learn to take advantage of the myriad features that Steam has to offer.

The keyboard works just fine, same as practically any other game. You learn to ignore those Controller Recommended! screens as just developers being silly. There's absolutely no need to get a controller for this game, you'll be just fine without downloading one.

Developers should learn to stop telling people to spend money they don't need to.

This argument may of held more water if it wasn't for the fact Steam itself has an OS specifically designed to be used with a handheld that primarily uses a controller layout to navigate and plays PC games.

Funny that a controller never popped out of my PC.
