Cheating???
I feel this games AI simply cheats on harder difficulty levels. For example I shot to a commanding lead, than the dice rolled the number 5 seven times in a row, when I had nothing on a 5 hex. I a, starting to see patterns like this. Anyone else or am I crazy?

i've noticed that also. i got a huge lead and there were 3 people ahead of me in turn and all three rolled a 7 and took every card i had so i couldn't do anything on my turn and then all three rolled a 7 again. and each time they took a card from me. I rolled a 7 too but since i only got one card it didnt' help.

Yes I have been in similar sistuations. I dont mind if the AI 'gangs' up on me when Im in the lead, but when they get to do it 3-4 times in a row off a 7 roll I call BS.......

What did you expect from a single player game? AI works only how it is programmed to work. It cannot "think outside the box". A human can adapt to situations. A computer does only what it is told to do in certain situations.

Well I would expect the computer to stay true to random die roll, I understand being targeted by the AI for resource stealing and robber placement but the programmers could have let the die rolls remain completely random. It is obvious that the progammer changed it to give the AI an unfair advantage when it is losing, not leaving die rolls random. I can take getting blown out when its fair, not when its programmed against you.:berserk:

the AI is not given an unfair advantage, but the game is crippling _you_ as a player. when you're ahead a certain number of points, the dice rolls are (mostly) taken from the numbers where you don't get any resources from. Or a 7 is rolled. And when a 7 is rolled, the robber is always placed on any of the two resources that have the most value to you (with regard to rolls (ie 6 or 8) and with regard to number of towns and villages.

in any case, I'd like to petition the developers to change the dice rolls back to a fair random roll, just as the original poster asked. You are turning dedicated players off of the game they purchased, and that is surely not your intention, is it?
TheGStamps Aug 24, 2013 @ 12:47pm
Yes DrClaw I agree with you! I am fine with them targeting my 'hot' numbers (ie 6 or 8) but at least let the rolls be random! It is a major turn off for me, unlike most I love playing this single player agaisnt the AI for practice agaisnt my friends IRL, however its not much practice when its not random!!!!!:D:

I agree with this. I just played 3 games in a row on the third campaign map and I had a considerable lead, like 8/11 points while the AI players had 2 and 3. After that none of the dice rolls corresponded with areas I controlled. The numbers 5 and 12 kept coming up, which were not squares I had settlements on. 12 is one of the least probable numbers to roll and it kept coming up. I went 3 rounds in a row with 0 resources. Meanwhile the AI laid out 6 roads in that time and took over my substantial lead on roads.

Any time I finally had the resources to build a city or lay a new settlement BAM there came the robber. It never fails. Any time I would hit 8 resources there came the robber.

I eventually regained my lead on roads and hit 9 points in my last game, only for the AI to spring up from 2 to 8 in an instant and won the game with 3 victory point cards, which blew my mind. I never draw any cards other than the knight. I got one victory point card once in 7 hours of play time now. All the rest are knights. As much as I despise the robber,

I understand why the AI dumps it where it they do when I'm in the lead. In the early game they almost never dump the robber on my resources. I think the AI is solid in terms of the robber. The dice rolls are ridiculous though. It's like the game is programmed to alter real world probabilities when the human player is in the lead to falsely increase difficulty.

I pretty much gave up on trading also. The AI always knows what I have in my hand, because it will never give me anything I need and usually when I have all the cards I need for a settlement, the AI spams with me a dozen ridiculous trade offers to give them my only sheep in exchange for wood that I already have two cities and a port built around.

On the plus side, the game doesn't crash anymore, so woohoo to that.

same here on the catan app, the campaign game is rigged, how awful, it's like nightmare dice rolls, sometimes it happens in someone's life when all the dice are wrong, but not every time!!! like in this campaign game. What a rip-off. It's already hard having all the AIs playing in team against you, never against them. The only way i found to trick this was try to have settlements in all the numbers, but what do you know? now the 2 and 12 which i ignored come up all the time, sometimes several times in a row. The AI doesn't have shame to not make it look random. It's so fun to look at the statistic graph, it's not a bell curve anymore. Only thing i can say, don't buy this, do not make the same mistakes we made.

that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bastard sean might have a "skill" of 2 but he has a luck of 100........
Clavia Lume Dec 29, 2015 @ 8:09pm
I ONLY benefit from the dice when he also benefits from that same roll, regardless of the other ai, sean-piss-drinking-♥♥♥♥-eating-dirty-rotten-bastard gets 70-90% favorable dice roll, and the second ai and I just get the "leftovers", this computer game is programmed to piss me off as he is the most annoying and inferiorating lousy piece of ♥♥♥♥ invented since the dawn of pc programming but I WILL MAKE HIM EAT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!!!

he sounds like a vo of skyrim or oblivion, makes me want to go back and murder every single guard in existence, but as they just respawn id be forced to turn everyone off of esstenial and murder the entire npc base of both worlds,,, makes me hate ai/pc programs like the passion of christ#♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

robber lands on a 6 late in a game, had just built a city there RIGHT BEFORE, that was rock, i needed, luckily (s?re) i also had a single town on a weat 6, so the pc decided to roll "6" for the next 3 rolls in a row, I could have made MAJOR weat bank if I had put the city on the town by the weat, but then the programming would rob that and/or the die would change just so it wouldn't ???♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

sean is suck a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ robberwhore rolling 7s just about every turn to keep its stats high, meanwhile the other ai does the favor to roll his "9" which he owns both of right from the same town/village

LITTERALLY every turn pretty sure the laws of probability are nigh out the window!
