Spelunky
Save Hacks Desperately Needed
Hi All,

I really do not want to play a grinding game, I loved FTL but mainly because death was less abstract (does anyone with a social life have time to learn how to use the teleporter without appearing in a wall?). I do not want to discuss probabilities here either. All I want is a trustworthy mod to reduce the frequency of death by ANY means. I want registry locations for flags for the tunneller in different regions (so when I reach a world I can unlock it) or I want a copy of the .sav file with all the regions unlocked.

I purchased two copies of this game so I could play it over the LAN with my partner and I am already hugely disappointed with the multiplayer element. I just want to be able to save between levels so I can enjoy the various aspects of the game (like the later worlds) and appreciate its difficulty but without its difficulty being forced down my throat in what is untimley grinding repitition. With the 4 or so worlds to unlock I cannot bare the idea of the exponential amount of hours it will cost me to win this thing. The requirements for getting tunnels seem absurd to me I only realised they existed when I went online, I want the choice to bypass them. Maybe have each world unlock after 4 hours of play or difficulty options so you can spawn with more hearts. I think 12 or 20 would be much more practical/sane in terms of making the odds of winning a game rise to the point where I can play it without thinking "I don't have time for this, get me to the jungle already!".

If anyone spots a decent version of any mods or hacks for saving keep me posted. I don't want achievements and scores are of no interest to me. I just want to enjoy the game I paid for.

p.s I wont fall for "Local Coop" again "LAN Coop" or bust.

Thanks,
EO.

I assumed the worlds would unlock when I reached them, that would have been MUCH more enjoyable.

Something tells me this game is not for you.

You can give stuff to the tunnel man so that he can unlock shortcuts to each world for you.

Save hacks would make the concept of leaderboards a joke.

Defeats the whole purpose of Spelunky.

Yeah roguelites take time. That can be considered a "weakeness" of the genre but within the game itself that is really hard to change without breaking the entire thing. Now past that here is my .sav with all the shortcuts unlocked if you want to use it:

It will undoubtebly give you some achievs, for one it has all the spelunkers unlocked at least.

As far as mods go I am only aware of the cheat engine that can provide items and health, not sure about locations. And I haven´t looked into it much so google is probably better info source there.

The only somewhat difficult shortcut to unlock is the one to the temple as it requires an "escort mission", You need to take the golden key from the mines to the start of the temple. . All the rest can be unlocked pretty fast.

You're honestly screwing yourself over when you take the shortcuts.

You can get pretty OP as soon as you reach the Black Market.

Yeah I realised this game is much easier singleplayer and also that you cannot unlock the tunnels in coop! I got to the ice world on my first attempt. It is a shame coop is not more functional.

I'm sorry, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion on things but the OP here basically reads as "I want to play Spelunky but I dont want to have to do anything challenging, get better at the game or actually put in any effort whatsoever". Why did you even buy the game in the first place?

There isn't any "grinding" in this game. Quite simply the more you play, the better you'll get. If you cannot handle the difficulty now, having all of the shortcuts unlocked will not make the game ANY easier on you.

If either of you read the last comment you would see that actually my issue was the biproduct of lacking coop. The game is much easier singleplayer from a level balancing perspective and the fact that you can reach checkpoints via shortcuts. The coop gameplay is factually grinding.

0/10 troll thread

I have no idea what that is even meant to mean? How can you rate a troll positively? I have yet to win this thing although I have reached Olmec 3 times. So many of the elements instant kill having lives almost seems redundant. Quick save and quick reload would make this way better I am not trolling or debating. I enjoy difficult games but I dislike harsh repitition and expect to be able to save. Permadeath should never be a default. In FTL you could copy your save file to avoid losing progress, in this there is no known alternative. Please respond if you find one.
