Nobody is forcing you to get high scores.
I honestly would bother with high scores if it was based on something else, like total items collected, distance made, bombs / ropes in inventory and (if you beat the boss) how much health you ended with.
At very least an option to be judged that way would be nice, rather than needing to ghost to register on literally anyones radar.
There's no easy way to judge someone except for score and time ,although some of your ideas could work as alternatives. But getting a good score is directly linked to a lot of waiting around which breaks the pace of the game, that's what I do not like.
I ment that getting a good high score NEEDS ghosting after a certain point, its simply impossible to pass a certain score thresh-hold without ghosting.
After all ghosting is considered an advanced technique, but to at all compete with others (at least higher up) you MUST use this method, or it wont even come up on their radar.
It reminds me (to a much lesser extent mind you) how gunz had kstylers from korea which ruined competativeness with their techniques, becoming near invincible to anyone who didnt kstyle.
But hey...leaderboards dont mean squat in the long run, so w.e
Edit: Think i got it, diamonds.
Simple solution: no-ghost leaderboards. Or at least, since an official implementation of that is unlikely, make arrangements to compete with other players who agree not to ghost.
I agree, just as the daily challenge blocks the Gameshow shops.
