Was this game inspired by 1983 game Spelunker?
I used to play this game back in the early 80s.

It wasn't a bad game at the time. I was curious if this was inspiration for Spelunky...

I believe Derek Yu named that, Indiana Jones and a few other things as influences for Spelunky in an interview a while back.

It absolutely borrows a lot of ideas from the original Spelunker, even the ghost. Spelunker got an HD remake on PS3/PSN a few years ago complete with online co-op. It's too bad that version was never released on Steam. It was a lot of fun to play with friends.

I remember this game on NES. I always thought they should do a remake - never knew that they actually did it for ps3/psn. From what I remember it was a pretty tough game. putting this game on my radar now

If you were ever able to pre-arrange it, the 6 player co-op in that game is an absolute blast

The interesting thing is I had Spelunker on my Commodore 64 before the NES existed, and I remember reading about it in some of those early game magazines. I never had it on the NES, but I do remember playing it in the early 80s on a C64. I kept looking at this game and thinking about how much it reminded me of that game.
