New Features You'd Like to See
So guys and gals, what features or contents you'd like to be added to the game?

My list :

i) Full fledged online multiplayer

ii) Endless / Arcade mode. An endless Olmec level would be sweeet :)

iii) An alternative to ghosting to increase total gold and get to the leaderboard. e.g : Solving quests or challenges (Endless Olmec)

iv) Building a relationship with Shopkeepers. Currently there's only two state : Neutral or Hostile. How about adding : Friendly, the more items you sell or the rarer items you sell to the Shopkeepers they'll be friendlier to you. So lower prices or some forgiveness toward non-death damage or shops being damaged.

Of course, I'd still like to freeze and kill them afterwards, but it will not be a simple manipulation of the game.

You have to be strategic. Do you kill a Shopkeep to get that oh-so-shiny Jetpack now or you maintain the Loyal Customer status (20% off till the game ends) that you've already build.

v) Competing God's. Instead of just an altar to Kali why not altars towards another god. The catch is you can be a devotee towards one god only. Let the Kapala be specific to Kali, and add another god that will give a totally different unique item.

e.g: the Sun God Ra, be a devotee and he will give a unique item that will enable you to summon lava men's.

This can be tied to point i ( group battles) and and point iii.

So gang, let your creative juices flow.

Yes! I totally agree with "Grim"... option to turn off the ghost would be great.
As this game is very difficult i would love to have option to rage quit. I hate the game not allowing me to quit after getting killed for random reason. I first have to select Z or X to continue or quick restart. Only then i am allowed to open menu and select exit game.

Online play for sure. Maybe a Versus mode similar to Left4Dead, we Team 1 tries to make it thru the level while Team 2 spawns as enemies. Then after each level they swap.

And of course more worlds.

If the devs added online co-op and deathmatch then Spelunky would literally be a perfect game in my opinion.

and

Perhaps new worldstage(s) as dlc if that's possible. An "endless" mode would be cool too.

I do agree, but hardhat is more along the line of equipment rather than game mechanics.. Spelunky already have the mattock, spectacles and boots. Hard hat is a logical extension.

I suppose you are right, but what I meant was that I wouldn't want any items that simply passively negate/deflect damage. One of the key components of spelunky's difficulty is how fragile you are and how unforgiving the game is when you make mistakes. Damage negation flies in the face of that.

I know the shield is in the game, but that is an active item which has it's own disadvantages.

Fair point. One possible alternative is making the hard hat consumable (mattock-like, cracked after a few hits ) rather than permanent.

Have to say though, given that Derek is a sadistic bastard, if he ever implemented hard hats, he'll probably add a catch - impaired vision on the dark level perhaps. :)

Funny....... i just made a post about new themes for the game. I was thinking idea's for new worlds. Cultures such as the ancient egyptians, greeks, vikings, asian countries would be awesome. Imagine having a section based upon say Greek mythology. Think of all the items,gods and enemies you could have. If that seems a bit 'far fetched' then maybe just areas such as 'tropical jungle' 'forest' or 'Kali's realm' :)
