The music is so bad
Just saying, I've never had to turn music in a game off before just from it being too annoying. It sounds like a million seaguls getting their ♥♥♥♥♥ shredded against a cheese grater.

I think the music is amazing. It's even pretty technical at times. Would see live. 10/10

The music probably sounds like this, because half the developers in the tech industry are listening to Boards of Canada, Com Truise, Nosaj Thing, etc, while they code away all day and night.

You might think this isn't "music", but I can assure you there are quite a lot of bands which sound very similar.

First thing I thought about this game was "whoa, the music is awesome for a video game".

The Wet Fur music makes me feel like I'm on hold while my call is redirected.

It's just your not type of music, that's totally understandable, some people enjoy that type of music some don't. There's your answer, you can now close this fairly useless thread, no offense or anything.

If one plays this game for more than 30 minutes they owe it to themselves to turn it off. 1 minute tunes that repeat over and over? Silence or play something else man!

The music in Spelunky is so nostalgic sounding, it reminds me of past 2D experiences from SNES and Genesis (Kid Chameleon had a great soundtrack).

I as well have to disagree with you, and would also like to praise the soundtrack of this fantastic game. Based on my musical preferences I think it is one of the many great newer fantastic game soundtracks along with SuperMeatBoy, Binding of Isaac, FTL and so many others.

I would like to know why the music was changed so much from the original tracks.
I remember I used to like them way more than these ones, but I guess the new ones aren't that bad either.
It would be nice if there was an option in the settings to turn the music (and maybe the graphics style) back to the original versions. (I know there's a mod for that, but I'd like it if it was official.)
Or if there were updated versions of the original songs being added to the game.
I think you have no taste. Although I prefer the original Mines music over the current one, the rest I don't care for.

Uh, I don't know who you're talking to but my taste buds are working fine, thank you very much.

La musique est bonne je trouve, mais elle manque de variété. Peu de titres au final.

Greatest track in the game!

I happen to like the music in both versions of Spelunky.

If you want, you can mod Spelunky HD to use the music from the classic 2008 version of Spelunky. A mod that does just that can be found here: http://mossmouth.com/forums/index.php?topic=3592.msg78548#msg78548
Thank you for posting that.

The new music is decent at best. Some is good but some is not pleasing to listen to at all and when compared to the classic tunes its just ugh. I was going to mute the game and play the original tracks in the background, but I'd much rather have the actual music modded into the game.

So so glad to see there's a modding community for this game. This sort of thing is not really common with indie games. HD visuals with classic music. Perfect. not to mention a bunch of other mods on here look great.

I am excited.
Also the music doesn't seem package in any fancy way so replacing is probably simple enough. Zelda shop theme must go in the stores!

Yeah, it's really easy. The replacement music has to be in ogg format and have the right filename. That's all there is to it. You can use something like Audacity to convert mp3s and such to ogg. In some cases, you may need to trim the beginning of the replacement tracks down so the music starts immediately.
