Help with tunnel man to ice levels

So the tunnel man wants a shot gun to complete the way to ice caves. This doesn't seem like the easiest thing to do. The shotgun only comes up every so often from what I've noticed in stores and treasure chests. Any easy way to get it?

If you get a dead or restless event in the jungle bomb under the tombstone that has ASH on it. If you have the shortcut to the jungle just keep starting over till you get that event.

or, you could kill the shopkeeper

That's pretty easy. Just rob a shopkeeper at level 2-4, right before you see Tunnel Man.By the way, this mission is easy.

When you talk to Tunnel Man to unlock the Temples (after Ice Caves), he wants the Gold Key from the Mines. So you can't take any shortcuts, you have to start from Level 1-1 and get the Gold Key in the Mines without opening the locked chest. You have to carry it all the way through the Mines, Jungle, and Ice Caves and then give it to him. But that's the last item he asks for, so don't carry it all the way to him unless you already gave him the other two items.

Your best bets are to kill a shopkeeper if you know one of the many tricks to killing them, or getting a "Restless Dead" event in the Jungle. One of the graves will be marked "ASH", guaranteed for each time the event shows up. Blow up the tile under it for a free shotgun.

if you stand right in front of the shopkeeper and use you whip you will take 1 damage but the shopkeeper will drop the shotgun and be knocked out for a few seconds which means you can easily grab the shotgun and shoot him

My meathod is to stand between the first and second items from the entrance, and press the jump and bomb button at the same time. I'll jump on the shopkeeper's head, then I can grab his shotgun and shoot him three times.

That's pretty risky and a waste of a bomb.

I usually just whip him.

My better method, if there is an ice gun, pick it up. Shopkeeper will walk towards you. Shoot him, then jump on him. He'll die in one hit since the ice gun froze him. Take his shotgun and steal everything.

#True. I don't know why. I've played 1200 runs, in the first 1000 I never passed the Jungle. In the last 200, I learned Ice Caves and Temple and beat the game 7 times.

Exactly, and this other guy's method requires the shopkeeper to have a freeze ray... talk about situational.

My method is to pick up any item from his store, and walk to the tile at the entrance - I then proceed to drop the item, and the shopkeeper will have followed me and so will be near the door.

As a result, you can easily place a bomb on a tile next to the entrance and just wait a couple of seconds, the shopkeeper will die 100% of the time if you do it right. However, I don't usually rob the shopkeeper. Only if he has very good items that I can't afford, e.g. jetpack + 2 bomb boxes, etc.

I mentioned that it's low risk and bomb free "if" he has an ice gun. Key word being "if". Talk about situational in a randomly generated game...

You don't have to take a hit or waste a bomb if he has the ice gun. If he doesn't, there are other ways. Like you said, or by whipping him, or something.
