Make online multiplayer, ffs!
Seriously, how hard is to program simple netcode into the game? Local coop is already in the game, adding simple network support (if you skip anticheat crap) should be easy and painless and not a big deal. Hell, make game open source and I will ad it to the game. Why does it take so long to add netplay option? It could boil down to sending inputs over stream.....

Not games per se, only for my personal projects, however, I do network client<->server communication programs daily.

Well, I bet they can't wait for you to offer your assistance. I'm sure you've thought of everything, and that they have no idea what they're doing.

Yes, developers are usually lazy. I am developer and I know I am lazy. But as consumer of this awesome game that I cannot play with my friends, I have to advocate and call them on their lazyness!

I love this game to death. Best 2D platformer. My only wish is to play with my friends -> online multiplayer.

I can't even attempt 100% achievements because of only local coop.

Yes it is. Go into the controls configuration, and turn on the keyboard controls for player 2.

Yeah, managed to get (and all other) achievements now. Still would love to play this online with fellow spelunky friends :(
