Question about saving the game
So I had a chance to briefly try it out and I completed tutorial #1. However I had to leave and I exited the game and it gave me NO OPTION to save the game. I figured it would automatically save it after each tutorial level but it didn't. So now if I want to play again I have to start at the beginning of the tutorial level!!

Is that correct or am I missing something? Does this game allow you to save a lot or no?

Thanks.

There is no saving, you start from the beginning every time. The tutorial only has to be completed once though, but it's not long at all.

If you are the type who demands hard-coded "progress" rules to your games, Spelunky probably isn't going to be your cup of tea. As mentioned, there is no saving. You can unlock shortcuts to skip to later levels from the outset, but unlocking these shortcuts takes significant effort in itself, and they are best used for practice: a player who starts from the beginning every time will have far more resources, and in Spelunky awareness and resource management are everything.

"Progress" in Spelunky is more defined by the player learning over time how the game's mechanisms work and intersect, and using that knowledge to your advantage. It can be repetitive and somewhat trial-and-error.

If all of that sounds like a pain in the ass, and you're still in the alotted time, I suggest you get a refund and seek out a game that better suits your tastes. Not an insult--it's genuinely not for everyone.

I haven't played the game since I started this thread so I have nothing new to report about it. I read the comments and understand how this game works. Appreciate all the feedback.
