Question about military units...

Do you have to order all of the new units manually or will the country eventually do that on it's own?

Normally you get a Notification if you want to give control to your General or not, If you Say Yes the Units will get Ordered around on their one. If you dont get a Notfication then i think you also can find it in the Military Operations Tab.(idk really cause im not in war right now with my country)

That is not really true. It was true for earlier versions than 2024. In 2024 version however, AI controls all your units by default, but you can also control them. So its basically AI doing all the stuff while you can do your own adjustments and your own moves still. I think this is actually a good solution.

Weird I didn't get a notification that anyone replied, sorry about that. No what I was asking about was about producing more units to replace stuff with newer models and replenish after a war. I was just curious if the army would order units on it's own or if I had to order them via contract... which I've been doing and it's tedious. lol there should be a way to set the numbers of what you'd like so you don't have to spend ages haggling on every type every year. lol

As IRL, in the game you cannot adjust your military equipment by just determining a number like it is possible for military personell. You can only increase your military equipment (including tanks, aircraft, artillery, rockets etc. etc.). by signing purchasing contracts with other countries or with your own domestic military industry, so ig yes, there is no easier way.

The AI will give orders to troops, but anything you do overrides the decision. It's best to micromanage wars.
