There is nothing this in depth that i know of which probably explains the high price, but there is fun to be had if you take the time to watch some lets plays and devote some time to it.
There are also guides on here too by Blackhawk that may help.
Basically, watch some LP's to see if it is something you would like to play, but be aware there is a learning curve!
It is a lot of fun though, even if you barely know what you are doing like me lol.
I would also recommend Politics Gaming on youtube as he has a lot of videos of this game.
Also, there is no other game on the market like this. It is a complex game, and not as buggy as people claim. The people that whine and complain about their game crashing or bugging out are making stupid, unrealistic decisions and bugging their games out. They don't know how to play realistically or just geopolitical simulator games in general. This isn't a game you can cheese your way through....making ridiculous economic contracts for example that will give your country hyper inflation. You have to make good decisions, just like in the real world, or you will find yourself losing the election, starting a civil war, etc.
They patch each version like 2-3 times then abandon it and charge for another update with even more bugs. There are bugs in the game that have been here since Masters of the World... The actual hell are you on about?
What bugs, exactly? Please tell me more. All people like you do is whine, whine, whine, because you can't exploit the game and use gamey hacks/cheats.
They got back to me within a day or two and were friendly.
Yep, that has been my experience too. If you report a bug, they ask you to send them the error log file so they can investigate it. If they find something, they will fix it.
A lot of 'bugs' people report are not really bugs, though. It is what people say when they don't know what they are doing. They make an unrealistic trade deal and then their economy implodes, or their inflation goes through the roof, or something else happens that frustrates them. This game isn't for everyone, it is for those looking for realistic geopolitical simulation. This isn't a game like HOI4 where you can world conquest or make gamey, stupid decisions and expect to keep power.
Are there bugs? maybe, no game is perfect, but i do think a lot of the reported 'bugs' may very well be user error.
I still consider myself a newbie even though i have played the last few years versions a bit, but i am always learning from my mistakes and it improves my enjoyment of the game.
Each to their own i guess, but i feel a lot of the criticism is unwarranted based on my experience playing and from watching others play.
I agree with your analysis. Definitely unwarranted criticism by people. Like you said, no game is perfect, but Power and Revolution is the only one on the market that fills the geopolitical niche in an immersive way.
You are right about it filling a niche though, i know geopolitical sims are very niche but also very rewarding once you have some learning and trial and error under your belt and can play well.
I like games like Hearts of Iron (and mods for it like Millennium Dawn), but those are completely different than P&R. I really like the trial and error of playing the game, trying to solve the world's issue one decision at a time.
Dear Ghaleon,
Please nationalize the Water Supply sector. You can just change the manpower and salary after that, yes?
Now, please do this after about 5 new sectors opened in the Industry tab. (Anti-AIDS, Anti- Hair loss, Cancer treatment, etc, the ones gated by research.)
Please, increase the manpower in the Water sector after this by 1000 or by any number really.
Then tell me how you did that, because I wasn't able to do this since the 2021 version at least.
I play the game gently, if I find a bug, reload, find the source, and avoid the buggy situation.
This is the only thing I haven't been able to do, and nationalizeing the Water is a must have for me, sorry, especially beacuse it is untradeable now.
I never nationalize industries, so I have never seen this issue. I will test it, though, and see what happens.
