Both terms of normal combat and boss fights as well.
I mean, really, 4-6 of them in an area and they're constantly launching lightning and energy waves doing 40 damage or something on PoD. You can literally die before even getting out of stun lock if you don't kill them fast enough.
Otherwise most certainly easier than the first game in pretty much every way I can think of. Still quite fun though, so no complaints here.
Nah, it's more healing and more forgiving enemies. A lycan in the first game was not only very common and early in the game, they were also numerous and could block, dodge, and attack quickly. Starting enemies in this game... brotherhood soldiers and "plague" victims who sluggishly attack and fall apart like theyre made of paper mache. (not that I still dont love this game)
That's mostly because the Forgotten One is such an idiotic boss.
Developer 1: "Alright team, we have a game where the main character gets his highest damage attacks done by blocking enemy attacks, and then counterattacking. What do we do to provide a challenge?"
Developer 2: "Let's put a boss in where you cannot block any of his hits at all!"
Developer 1: "That's a good start! Anything else that you think we can do?"
Developer 2: "Let's put in a phase where you can only hit him with jump attacks! And then another phase where you can only hit him with jump attacks at certain angles!"
Developer 1: "But aren't jump attacks some of his weakest moves in the game?"
Developer 2: "I thought you said you wanted a challenge?"
Developer 1: "... great idea! Let's ship it!"
Developer 2: "Let's also make sure to not put those pesky health and magic regeneration shrines in, the player should just go through constant boss battles in-between their puzzle sequences."
Developer 1: "We'll definitely want you working on the sequel with all of these great ideas!"
Seriously a horrible boss and level design. I would easily rate the game a 9/10 without him, then a 5/10 with him. He was just that much of a disruption to the normal pattern of the game.
I'm actually stuck at the Forgotten One in Warrior difficulty with him 1/4 HP left. Had to restart because it's hard to finish it without Orbs.
The boss is hard as hell. That's true, but it's not unbeatable, proof for that are the no damage+trial completion videos on Youtube.
As a matter of fact I prefer the Forgotten One over any LOS2 boss, because it offered one hell of a challange, while all bosses so far up to Inner Dracula (haven't finished the game yet) dropped so fast, it wasn't even funny.
Maybe LOS 2 is one hell of a challange in Prince of Darkness mode (which sadly not unlocked yet) but on Lords of Shadow difficulty, the bosses are rather way too easy.
Don't get me wrong LOS 2 has amazing bosses, but they need to be buffed up HP and DMG wise way more.
I have 100% achievements in LoS1. I beat him on Paladin difficulty. I still insult his design because of the jumping and blocking mentioned above. It's almost like the people who designed it didn't even bother to playtest it at all - because it was horrible. There should have been at least 1 attack in his move set which you could block. Blocking is the best way to gain focus, and thus regen at least a little bit of magic.
I'm past him now though, so whatever. Currently working on getting 100% achievements in LoS2 now. The bosses here are pretty easy, it's very true. These challenges, however ... mostly interesting.
The Challenges however are extremely dumb in LOS2. Some are easy and some are very time consuming. they really should refill your HP and both Magic bars. god that's annoying.
I also did everything in LoS and I completely disagree with you. Paladin was way too easy because of parrying. It granted way too much focus and the counter attack were ridiculously powerful, especially since you could switch to shadow magic in the middle of parrying. This one boss, the forgotten one, was the only traditional boss, making you learn his pattern and you were not allowed to get hit a lot, since it was hard to get your magic back. So out of all LoS bosses, I believe that the forgotten one was the best, because it was, by far, the most challenging, and there was nothing unfair about it.
As for this game is way easier, not only because of the C:LoS1 experience, but you get way more magic per absorbed orb, I can easily keep my bars "overcharged" on fights, you can still switch to void/chaos after a synch block to increase your HP gain/damage, it seems easier to break regular blocks on most enmies and let's nor forget the relics, they are all very usefull and easily turn the tide of a battle especially the tears for a quick full heal if you need it.
