Mechanically wise LoS2 is better although it's easier then LoS, lacking puzzles (which were replaced by stealth segments) and features industrial and futuristic design elements which is not a very good idea for a Castlevania game in my opinion. Either way I'd say LoS2 is a superior game: better graphics, polished mechanics, more balanced (most moves are actually useful now) and doesn't look like a mere God of War clone anymore.

I prefer LoS by a mile. Story wise LoS2 is total bullcrap.

LOS1 - Better story, environments
LOS2 - Better combat, music

LOS1 by a longshot.

LOS2 had terrible environmental and gameplay choices that severely brought down a possibly amazing game. The stealth segments are both a chore and are nonsensical. You can take out a giant hulking Boss, but you better not get spotted by that buff guy with a gun because he'll insta-one-shot you!

Like others have said, the industrial/futuristic setting is just lame and uninspired. The most enjoyable aspects of the game are when you actually travel to Dracula's Castle. The DLC where you play as Alucard is very enjoyable and remains in Dracula's Castle.

i platnum'd LOS on ps3 and was pretty excited for this but the stealth missions and more modern settings really fell short. after considersing the ending they gave us in the first one. i thought they would go with a more modern gothic tone rather than a bunch of pipes and rafters. the beginning of this game grabbed me just like the previous one and after a few stealth objectives and totally out of place levels, i just dropped it.

i'm actually kind of suprised that it has a mostly positive rating. i might give it another try, but iunno.

It's worth it. In the end it even gets very gory. <3

The first game is a lot better but LoS2 isn't bad either.

Lords of Shadow 1 is vastly overrated.

Lords of Shadow 2 is terribly underrated.

LOS2 is a hidden gem.

Symphony of the night older games are a mess control wise and anything newer seems like a complete mockery to the castlevania lore
