Thief not running well on my kit - Improving performance?

Hi, My specs: 4Ghz FX-8350, Radeon HD 7870, 16GB RAM, SSD and Win7 Pro. I got the master edition and it stutters and lags and is quite unresponsive when jumping and turming to look around, I've hardly got past the training level on easy. I am dissapointed, what can I do to improve performance?

Have you tried lowering the graphic settings? Try turning off SSAA and other effects to see if that'll help.

I will try that, thank you, hours of careful adjustment will ensue to get a playable game :(
Reading through the links it also may be that my 64bit windows may be to blame. Its a shame to have to mess with it and not be able to play with it in its original state.

hate to break the news to you but if you want a plug and play machine...console gaming might be your thing...also hours of tweaking??? what are you talking about...change the graphics options in your game...thats what pc gaming is all about totally.

Can't do consoles, seriously hamfisted with controllers :D Simple stuff first. OK.

lol...yeah just change your graphical options in the game to make it run better and or look better...i like all gaming platforms really except handhelds anymore cause im half blind...lol...cant see those little screens well enough

Yes I did turn it on! Thought Thief suported it. Will check that thx :o)
