I have posted several times that he sounded like he was barely clinging to consciousness for the better part of his recording sessions for his dialog. he..just..sounds..like..he..doesn't..really..give..a..damn when he's delivering his lines. He was probably going for "aloof and reserved" and we got Snoozy McSnooze-fest.
Still love the game as a whole, but certain parts could have been SO MUCH BETTER with very little effort.
lol X3 what is a shame with this is that if people buy it allot they will make a sequel just like it. if people DON'T buy it, then they wont make any sequel =\ so i doubt we would get a proper sequel any way ._.

If you love Thief, it's in my view the best option, instead of messing around with texture packs and so on for the original game.
TDM has the absolutely most respectful treatment of the classic gameplay of Thief 1,2,3 - the graphics are good/great since it's based on Doom 3, though (obviously) not as good as "Thief 4".
It's got proper mantling, you can rope arrow to any wooden surface, moss arrows and everything you'd expect from a Thief game.
Modders create Fan Missions, and it's open to anyone to create one themselves using the mapping tools. There are a lot of missions, enough for hundreds of hours of thieving.

Thanks Taffer. Sounds good but if it's not, I'll run you through!
Im a veteran of the old school games: i started when Dos was all over the place-
But nevertheless these old Games are Gold.
I tell why: It has more ways to handle the levels-
it still is one of the best Games ever-
perfect athmospere real fine story to tell.
There are a lot of facts like the good black humor in it.
Yes the Graphics are realy old for today, but you can repatch it with texture mods.
I still prefer the original games with no changing.
It was realy frightening to move through the catacombs- and it still gets me when i hear a spider or Ghost in there.
I cant tell how often ive played it.
Im cool with the new Garret too, but there is not realy much to steal in Thief 4 so there are some design and Level aspects i cant understand.
Some characters get to much attention- like the girl.
There are other aspects in the game wich are pretty unfair, that never happened in the
old Series and why the hell does garret his left eye back? I dont know.
So i can understand when people how didnt grew up with the old series get bored, because of the old graphic aspect. I cant understant, why they tell its a bad game- its the best game you could espect from a sneak game.
I cant understand why the new thief get only 55 percent.. you can say its not like the old games yep, but why 55 percent? When other more boring games get 90... but thats another story.
However when I do concentrate on the game I'm lacking the scariness that I remember from the originals. Granted that was many years ago.
Overall I would give it a thumbs up. Thanks for the save game fix as well, seems to be working for me so far.
And having also played the recent Thief game, I'd say it's an improvement. Stealth feels better, the plot and characters are better, and seeing Garrett's hands all the time as he picks up every single dime is a great addition. It also has a ton of options for playthroughs, so it succesfully caters to both the "casual" and the "hardcore" audience (notice how I put both in quote marks). The only thing I don't like in comparrison to the usual is how well it runs. While it's understandable that newer games will run worse than newer ones... I run Titanfall at max settings at 40 fps. Minimum settings on Thief are 22 fps, with near constant stuttering and frame drops.
Eh... I get that playing those games when they were new changes my perspective, but I would still say Thief and Thief 2 have better level design than most modern games, with much larger and more interesting areas to explore. Dishonored did a very good job at this too though, for sure. The new Thief game not so much.
Also for a lot of us modern games are too clunky. There's something nice about the simplicity of Thief 2's movement, controls and gameplay. No long grabbing animation, no endless cutscenes, no loading stutter, etc. Just pure gameplay.
It's true. Many games today tend towards this COD style interactive movie rather than fully fledged game. And in a game like Thief, that really destroys so much of what made it work the way it did.
I love this game so much, I can even forgive the Zombieland mistake. Why in the world does it need to have Zombies?? I stopped playing the old games because of this crap.
It was my least favorite too. I didn't like how it was 3rd person, how specific fences purchased specific loot, etc.
What I did like about it is that it faithfully recreated the factions. Hammers were still hammers, the pagans were around, etc. And the end of the game was a nod to how the first began.
It was still a thief game at heart, albeit completely different style. I will say I digged the semi-open city concept, though.
