AMD TrueAudio
I was wondering if anyone that has a AMD card with TrueAudio support has given it a try in Thief? Dose it make any difference, or just save a few cycles on your CPU? Isn't this the first game to support it?

it shouldnt fix sound bugs, but soudns should be clearer and effects on them better. But a bug is the games problem.

Ah alright. Thanks for the info.

I've been playing on PS4 on a home theater system and the only audio issues I've had have been conversations starting/restarting (that moment when two guards are having the same conversation twice simultaneously but they swapped who says what part between the two conversation instances) and some cutscene dialog volume oddities which I -may- have fixed by messing with individual speaker volume levels but I havn't had a cutscene yet to test it in.

setup is PS4->HDMI->Tuner->5.1 speakers
Tuner->HDMI->Projector

I do not know whether or not it uses true audio or not but I have definitely not encountered any of the stuff I've heard of like sounds being too "close" despite having walls in the way or anything like that.

In that case, ♥♥♥♥ knows why the audio is fine for me. Has anyone tried the PC version with actual surround sound speakers via a tuner or is everyone just using surround sound headsets? What about true surround sound vs virtual/emulated surround sound?

They haven't said anything about TrueAudio actually enhancing the sound, they've just mentioned it being used to offload work from your CPU.

They did add some kind of new reverb to the game but you don't need TrueAudio to use it as it can be done on the CPU.

accually the reverb tech is more advanced than what is in the software version, its accually aparent when on. from the amd site

"True to life echoes and convolution reverb are finally available on all platforms, meaning programmers can now build these effects into their games rather than relying on basic reverbs. The types of real-world acoustic phenomena that can be faithfully reproduced are massively greater. "
"Programmable sound effects bring to audio the same kind of flexibility that programmable shaders brought to graphics. Game developers aren’t stuck with inflexible canned effects anymore. They now have the flexibility to create complex effects and acoustic environments. "

so on soforth

Whenever I try to install the 14.3 driver, I install, and then when I restart my computer, Windows doesn't start. It works with any of the older drivers, but not 14.3. Can anybody help me with my problem?

Even though I have an R9280x, the audio settings only shows, Software "Convolution Reverb".

Trying to find out how it works, it appears the DSP on the card should get hold of the audio stream before it's sent out to your audio port, so no need to use the lame HDMI audio out on the back, just keep your existing setup.

IMO sounds are good in this game, its the mixing thats all fubar.

Your card dont support TrueAudio - TrueAudio-enabled GPU - Radeon R9 290X/290 and R7 260X

AMD true audio does add alot more immersion to the game... when it works... I have to save and quit to restart to get it working.

Sound crackles and completely shuts off at other parts

Thanks for clearing that up Shankly, gotta love marketing schemes and numbers.

what are you talking about? the R9 280 is an older tech which does not have the dsp at all.
