The Incurable Hand
Really, Garrett? You're going to wear that freshly blood-stained bandage on your hand forever? Are you a haemophiliac, or could you just not stop picking at it long enough to allow it to heal?

Sure, it doesn't actually hamper me in any way, but I get annoyed to be stuck with it except when I replay earlier chapter missions (and immediately afterwards, before I leave the clock tower). Is anyone else bothered by this?

some are. I don't exactly know the timeline of the game. It seems to play out over about 2 weeks, where the last chapters seem to be in quick succession. He could have changed the bandages, though.

Of course it would be better to remove the bandage after the next chapter, but I guess there are way more pressing matters, like fixing audio...

Troy does not have a tonic for that yet.

They don't need to wave the unrealistic parts in our face though. You know, like Garrett does now every time I see him use his hands.

yeah they do....hell this game is a sci-fi type of game...are you kidding me...this isnt a historically correct or politically correct type of game....i think some of you trade your real life for the gaming life or cant seperate the two...lol...so darksiders sucked cause it wasnt historically correct...or metall gear rising or bordlands 2 shouldnt have been so cartoony cause actually people dont look like that...lol...some people need to go out and smell the fresh air alittle bit more i think and clear their minds a bit....its just a foolish or very young idea to think games should mimic real life...thats just crazy.

Not to mention he's wearing the bandage on his glove. No, no, Garrett, that's not how bandaging works.

I actually think that is a good thing to have a game be real life. Like the old 3 lives and game over. Three strikes out. You get beaten down three times by the guard, you cannot play the game anymore. Each time you log in, you look at the inside of a prison. There is no possibiliy of parole. Except when you have rich parents, who can buy you a good lawyer. If that is the case, you may buy a new copy of the game.

you are right...screw the bandage...if you die in this thief 2014 game the first time...the game bricks out...you cant play it anymore cause you freakin died...yeah for the people that need more realism in a fantasy la la game...the devs should hook you up so it plays exactly like real life....insanity

Hmm, there's a difference between realistic and believable (which might be a more accurate way to describe things here). While Garrett's world contains unrealistic things or people with unrealistic abilities, most of them are believable in context because they behave consistently within their own private world.

Things like saving/loading, or glowing balls of light to mark mission doors aren't really there as far as the game world is concerned (Garrett never notices them, and neither does anyone else), but Garrett's bandaged hand is the direct result of in-world events, and needs to behave believably, so running around the city with it like that forever is annoying.
Yeah, because You Only Live Once was so great for people's computers. Or "One Chance" for that matter. /sarcasm off
