Yeah now that you mentioned it. I don't know why I thought of that in the first place. The reason I didn't think about that is Most of the LGS People went on to work for Arkane Studios and formed Floodgate Entertainment. Who would make Dishonored and Dark Messiah. But I was thinking only some of the LGS team should make a Thief game similar to the originals.
I’m guessing that you’re trolling but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Eidos didn’t pick up anything. They published all three of the original games. Looking Glass developed the first two, and Ion Storm (which included many Looking Glass members) developed Thief Deadly Shadows.
You may not personally like Thief: The Dark Project but it was a truly revolutionary release that was massively influential. Thief 1 and 2 are incredibly critically acclaimed and much loved by the gaming community. They were not as you put it “riddled with bugs.” In some ways they are objectively better than the new version. You may really like the new Thief (and so do I) but you should show a little basic respect for the people who made the originals. They established, and arguably invented stealth as a genre.
Yes,Thief: The Dark Project was truly Revolutionary game at the time. The story was good, both the sound design and the level design were amazing. You could complete a level in multiple different ways.
The use of sound really was fantastic wasn’t it. I’d say that it’s not yet been matched let alone beat. Also it had the best end game cut scene I’ve ever seen in a game.
nah dont troll....my opinion i guess is my own along with many others....the first two games were not as good as people are claiming they are....deadly shadows and thief 2014 are 100 times better...its funny that when my opinion differs from somebody elses im trolling...that is a joke....not as revolutionary as splinter cell was with pandora tomarrow ... a way better game then those first two thieves ever were.....i could have lived without them...lol
And hell no that that someone should show more respect for the makers of the earlier games, because you say so. The old title had at least just as many flaws, if not more. That doesn't mean we don't love them.
I assumed that you were trolling because you seem deliberately ignorant of basic facts. The quality of a game encompasses both objective and subjective factors. Thief 1 & 2 were objectively better games than Deadly Shadows. Compromised had to be made during the development of DS to accommodate inferior console hardware. No swimmable water, smaller maps a more restrictive toolset. This is not my subjective opinion this is an objective fact.
You claim that Splinter Cell was a more revolutionary title. How so? To start, basically it had an incredibly linear level design and a more rudimentary stealth system than Thief. Also there is the slight issues that the game would almost certainly have never been made had it not been for Thief as Thief essentially spawned the stealth genre. You may not have liked the first two (though that’s odd as you liked DS which was basically a simplified version) but you seem unaware of the influence that The Dark Project had on the industry.
thats your opinion but i wont say your trolling...im better then that...didnt like thief 1 and 2 at all....deadly shadows was awesome and this thief 2014 was incredible
I’m not saying that they weren’t flawed. I’m saying that that they were incredibly important games. As for showing respect. He clearly loves the new game but shows contempt for the people who created its source material. (That is a dichotomy, hence why I think he may be a troll.) Are you really saying that you don’t think I have point there?
