Thief-Podium Bug
So im on chapter 3 in the Brothel and have gone into madamme xio xios secret chamber. when i look through the holes and get the symbols i get this bug which highlights the wrong symbols and none in the second-to-outer ring. can anyone help me please?

There are 2 podiums. Perhaps the symbols are for the other one. Go to the other podium, look in the 4 alcoves leading into the podium room with stained glass (use focus). Try that podium first before doing the main mission one.

the bug occurs on the ring mechanism that you place into the podium to open the secret passage way. is there a second podium? and if so where?

He missed a couple of the symbols. Use the peep holes and move the mouse around, you'll get them.

Yeah but after i do all of that it still doesnt work :( its kept me from advancing in the game for a whole day

I only found one set of symbols, and it worked for both podiums. Apparently, there is a second set, but you don't get it until you've used the first set.

You have to really search around the rooms, the game will count how many you have left to find when you find one.

there is a peephole that you come across before the first podium. You have to back track a bit...in case you missed that one. If I was mistaken about the time line of the podiums...im sorry...it was 4am when I did it. =)

There are two of those. But you need to open the first one to get to the second one.

I had to do some backtracking to get all the first symbols.

there is one symbol etched into the wall just next to the podium for the main mission. If you are facing the podium...it is at about...1 o'clock. I have a feeling that when he does find it...there is going to be a face palm lol hehe =)

Having the exact same problem! No solutions yet, I even tried just looking at the symbols agaon, but I've accomplished nothing. Maybe another forum knows what's up?

Solved via a YouTube video! 😵

To activate the podium, turn the outermost ring and the innermost ring to their correct places. Now turn the ring that's next to the innermost one to ONE place COUNTER-CLOCKWISE to its correct position (so the glowing symbol is at 10/11 o'clock instead of 12). The ring that doesn't have a glowing bit must also be rotated to the correct position. From where you are at the podium, turn right and immediately around the corner there will be a room with the symbol on the wall to the top left. Just squint very carefully to find that symbol and then activate the podium (OR just turn the ring until it works - at least it won't cost more than eight tries 😉).

This really sucks, I can't believe such a dumb bug is still in this game after 8 damn years. And it's my first time playing it.

P.S. I know it's been nore than eight years since this thrrad was started, and I hope OP found a way to continue the game. It's really great I think, and to have finally bought it feels amazing. Can't wait to play it on a proper machine one day. Anyhooz, there it is. Kbye
