Graphics settings advice for Thief
GeForce Experience is not detecting the game on my system yet. I'm guessing it's simply awaiting an update, but I'm hesitant to start the game without knowing what it's optimization suggestions are.

My hardware isn't anything special. If anyone could comment on what kind of settings they've used successfully I'd appreciate it.

probably vsync related. and yeah, geforece experience is great for autoinstalling new drivers but thats it, you really should optimize the game for yourself.
I never use the automatic optimization partially because it changes settings like FOV and DOF that are 100% personal preference and can't be calculated by a computer. It could be vsync related (I left vsync off in game because I'm using G-sync) or possibly old drivers.

sorry to go offtopic, but im really looking forward to upgrading to a gsync monitor when it goes mainstream. is it worth the money so far in your experience?

So far nothing I have done gets me a solid frame rate. It goes between 20-60 in no time....so annoying.

It's a pretty big investment so it's hard for me to say if it would be worth the cost for someone else but I can tell you it works very well. Having perfectly smooth motion at all times without needing to maintain a constant framerate is something I'd have a hard time living without now. Some games don't benefit as much as others though since it makes game engine timing irregularities and stutters very obvious when you may not be able to tell them apart from normal vsync or tear stuttering without G-sync. I haven't played much of Thief yet but it's been working pretty well so far, barring the occasional loading/texture streaming stutter.

G-sync should be available in lower cost monitors in the not too distant future though, so it couldn't hurt to wait.

why is so hard for people to list the resolution? after all that that plays a massive role you know. i would think most people would be at at least 1920x1080 but some are not. and if you are then I call BS on you running it smooth on those settings.

i use geforce experience but only for my drivers thats it, you should always customize your settings yourself at your preference in every game.

I am def going to be investing in a G Sync monitor soon. I honestly can't wait. Just gotta figure out the sweet spot for what size I want and how much I want to spend.

same, im actually planning on getting ASUS reference monitor but i havent generally seen it available w/ gsync outside of a couple outlets, some of which require you to purchase w/ a custom built pc. so i think itll be a bit before it comes down to a reasonable pricepoint. also want to see it hit mainstream so it can be put thru the ringer & make sure its worth the $200 or so, but that demo sure made it look fantastic.

The original model which I have is only available through an upgrade kit that is purchased from nVidia, or with the kit pre-installed by botique PC builders. I would recommend waiting for the new proper G-sync models to be released as they should include better warranties and you will have a selection of various screen sizes and resolutions. Also last time I checked nVidia was sold out of the upgrade kits and it's unknown whether they will ever be restocked.

I wonder, but $200 might be a little low, unless you're thinking of smaller sizes like 24" and lower.

For me at least, I have a 27" 2ms Asus LCD at 1080p, and I love it but can't imagine even staying at that size. I expect to pay well over $350 but I know that will be nothing compared the sweet 4K smooth as butter gameplay I will be enjoying in the years to come.

Witcher 3 an DA:I are almost here, so I'm starting to look already.

I'm running everything a max settings 1920x1080 with 100+ FPS, only problem is after extended game play my system becomes unstable because there's way too many open handles (I'm talking in the millions)
