Graphics settings advice for Thief
GeForce Experience is not detecting the game on my system yet. I'm guessing it's simply awaiting an update, but I'm hesitant to start the game without knowing what it's optimization suggestions are.

My hardware isn't anything special. If anyone could comment on what kind of settings they've used successfully I'd appreciate it.

your specs are awesome and you gonna max it up my friend and enjoy it
yusupov Feb 25, 2014 @ 3:25pm
thats a good gaming pc & this runs well, you should run it on max or close to.
The Phasmid Feb 25, 2014 @ 3:28pm
You should have no issues whatsoever. It appears the majority of the problems as of right now are SLI or Crossfire related.
Jimmy Tugboat Feb 25, 2014 @ 3:29pm
Yeah I'm not getting great benchmark results with SLI on. Going to try and turn it off tonight and see how it goes.

I am running the game on a GTX 760 with an i5-4670k, max settings (no SSAA) at 1080p and I'm averaging probably 70-80 fps and up over 100 at some points. The lowest framerate I've seen so far was 51 during a cutscene most likely due to DOF. This is with the beta driver from a couple weeks ago.

max settings with low SSAA should probably not drop much below 60 fps too often at 1080. probably lower another setting or two one notch and stay above 60 fps.

I have a

Samsung SSD
I7-4770k
GTX 760 2GB
and 12 gb ddr3

on every graphic setting from very low to very high I get about 30fps....something is very wrong

probably vsync related. and yeah, geforece experience is great for autoinstalling new drivers but thats it, you really should optimize the game for yourself.

-1 for using GeForce Experience.

Is it really that hard to start the game and change the settings accordingly while monitoring your framerate? 100% of all times "GeForce Experience" will optimize for lower than your hardware is capable of running at acceptable framerate. If you don't like options/settings I suggest you move over to console and play it there.

I never use the automatic optimization partially because it changes settings like FOV and DOF that are 100% personal preference and can't be calculated by a computer. It could be vsync related (I left vsync off in game because I'm using G-sync) or possibly old drivers.

I went from very low and its already running at sub 30 fps so can't really edit much because even at the lowest it's running like crap.

I've turned everything on and off many times and nothing has helped.

Edit: I'm also on the most recent drivers

Check if your GPU is not running at 2D clock speeds.

I've actually found that GeForce Experience suggests settings higher than my hardware is capable of, or at least their framerate target is lower than I want. May be different for different video cards though.

AMD also has their Raptr-partnered Gaming Evolved app which works with nVidia hardware despite what they say and has adjustable settings, but all the settings are either too high or too low. They miss that sweet spot I'm looking for.

You're seriously relying on Geforce experience to game? I don't even....
Calm down, I just installed it to see what it had to say for this Unreal engine game as it's been awhile since I've played a game with it. I've been unchecking the box for years just like the rest of you.

What about FXAA? I usually have it turned off. Any reason to turn it on for this?

It's really up to you if you want it or not. It does a decent job of antialiasing and has a very low performance impact so it's generally recommended to keep it on. It can have a small negative effect on texture sharpness though.
