Thief
Garrett's eye
I wonder how are they going to pan that out, by which I mean: how are they going to resolve that in the reboot, with or without a connection to the other games?

I mean, having your eye gouged out by a wood-nymph-bint (whom you fall head over proverbial heels in the next outing) in service of a god is simply not something you write out of a character.

They do mention an accident Garrett endures early in the game, which also gives him the much hated Focus power. Could that be it?

Keep it simple. And all will be well. And do not forget, it RESTART

Don't want to believe they would take the whole existing pre-story out, but they might have done just that. And what is it about his natural eye being dark brown? I always thought it's grey, or blue...

It's a quote "soft-reboot" meaning, I think, people who've played the originals will know the backstory of things like that, but it won't be noticeably a sequel for those just picking it up.

If you watch IGN's Rewind Theatre they talk about this and if you look closely at Garrett you can see a scar above his right eye and both eyes are different colors.

So obviously the game touches on this subject.

All valid point, and we'll know all come the end of February.
Another thing that intrests me is that girl that gets killed in one of the trailers; the same one which tries to pickpocket Garrett in the final scene from Deadly Shadows? And I wonder if Garrett has still a Keeper insignia under one of those glowes.

The eye thing is something he gains after his apprentice Erin falls through the roof into some sort ritual being peformed below.

Could be, though that would entail eliding the original story.

This statement is invalid. No evidence to support your claim. Moving on.

Once again have watched Channeling the Primal on youtube, very close. In the beginning, at 0:18, both his eyes look the same and not glowing. Then around 0:47-0:49 his right eye is different color, and it does glow. Yes, IGN's Rewind Theatre noticed this, too. So we know that his eyes are normal when Erin falls through the roof. Also at 0:52 there is a short sequence of Garrett falling through the roof after Erin, his face is seen for a moment, and his right eye is already glowing there... Does his eye mutate while he is hanging above that magical explosion thing I wonder? The mentioned scar could be from crashing roof pieces.

I sincerely hope so. But if they changed everything... well... this hope is weak.

Would be cool. I saw Keepers' ruins in one of gameplay videos, at least they didn't annihilate the Keepers altogether. In the latest Thief - 101 Trailer at 1:40 there is a bloody bandage on his hand, where the insignia should be. Maybe he gets that insignia in the ruins? We'll know it all in time, but to speculate is so tempting. Anyways, in my heart Erin is the girl from the Deally Shadows final scene, his eye is already mechanical in the beginning of Thief 4, the insignia is there, and he speaks with Stephen Russell's voice. I'll be playing this game heavily modded by my imagination))

There are a few sigthings of Mechanist holy sign, a gear, across the footage shown in various videos. So, traces of Karras' lot is still in the City. No word about anything from the other games, yet.
The Unwritten Times are truly interesting, dare I say, beguiling? Up until these last couple of videos I wasn't in a "cannot wait for it!" kind of a state. Now, I'm counting the days till I can play the game.

I could link a report. Well a played preview. How well is your comprehension of the dutch language?

No, Garrett has a mechanical eye already, before gaining focus. From someone who played the preview, responding to questions.

That's good to hear. Because that eye, I think, had some character building effect on Garrett, considering how he "acquired" it.

So... looks like I thought this game to be worse than it is. A rare occasion I'm happy that have been mistaken:) Still going to repaint Garrett's natural eye to grey though:P

There were huge close ups of Garrett's face in GamesTM magazine recently and his eye looks far more magical than mechanical. It glows green and even seems to be expelling some kind of mystical haze.

Edit: and a quote from that article, under a picture of the old woman.

"This is the Queen of Beggars – she knows more than she lets on about Garrett’s affliction with the Primal (the mysterious force that made his eye go funky). You can buy Focus upgrades from her."
